  • I'm thinking of getting an iPhone today when I go and get a new contract.
Was going to get a Blackberry, but after lots of people telling me how much better an iPhone would be, as I want an iPod touch too, I think I'm going to go with one.
Is it worth getting an o2 contract out then?
I want the 32GB one, but not sure if I'll be able to afford it.
And I'm not convinced by the 500 texts a month thing, are there any bolt-ons I can purchase to get more texts? And how much extra would it cost?
Is it basically an iPod touch with text and phone function?
I'm currently on a £30 contract with unlimited texts and 300 minutes, I like the unlimited texts so I don't have to worry about going over the limit, but I don't phone much so I'm not bothered about number of minutes.
I know getting an iPhone will cost me loads more for a contract but it will save me carrying around both an iPod and a phone!
Anyone know how much a month it will set me back?
Sorry about all the questions, I'm not very good with this!
    Thanks!
  • HELP! My 16GB iphone 3G is on an 18 month contract and have now reached the 9 month contract mark to which i asked O2 to downgrade. They came back to me saying it is not possible... What do i do?

And how much extra would it cost? £7.50 per month with o2 gets you 500 extra texts, and £7.34 with Orange gets you unlimited

Best bet is to go and look up the plans, looks like you'd be suited to iPhone35 on either network which is 600mins, 500 texts for £35 a month (then your extra texts on top). Remember o2's internet isn't capped, Orange's is subject to 750mb fair usage. But the texting with Orange works out better for you. Orange is £175.00 for the phone on that tariff on a 24 month contract and o2 will be about the same.

    Hope this helps you out!
  • right, my 3 contract ends in jan2010.
3 have told me if i want to termintate and get pac code, i need to phone them or write to them by dec 4th to request pac.

i really really do not understand 02 pay go options and even their support didnt help, they answered half a question and then ignored me.

i think im gonna go for simpicity sim.

In what order shall i do this?
shall i buy a pay go iphone? use pay go for a bit to test it out, see how much i spend etc.
And THEN if i want simplicity, then buy that sim.

I definately want to PAC my current number from 3.
So could i start using the NEW pay go iphone number/sim initially, PAC the current number over, and then PAC it over again to simplictiy?

    (thanks for any help

I think prices will come down next year.
What Orange are doing here is trying to capture premium clients who did not want to get an iphone because they did not like O2. Then they will reduce their prices to appeal to other clients.
I think the gloves will come off next year when Vodafone enters the market.

Doubt it. Apple do not want the Iphone to be sold Cheaply, they have said if it's given away free it will canabilise it's low end ipod sales. If you get a Iphone free why buy a Sub £100 ipod, may as well get the iphone.

I doubt Vodafone priceing will be much better, Apple take a slice of the o2 monthy charges (and I suspect Orange and VF will have to pay them too).

It's an apple, and apple have always been prices at a premium, regardless of what you feel about them, and will continue to be so.

I keep seeing this stated in these forums. Does anyone have a link to any sort of proof that Apple actually take any of the monthly charges from a phone supplier?

I dounbt you will get to see that anywhere. As part of the contract (if there is one like it) between the network companies and iphone, I am sure there will be a few clauses prohibiting the exposure of such information.

    Will make apple look bad.
  • I would like to know this as well, does any poster know for sure?

quidco £100 cashback with simplicity? or not worth the bother?
  • Will o2 offer any deals on iphones for existing customers at all? I'm due an upgrade (as said many times before by others, 500 texts isn't enough for me....) and they mentioned the 3G, 600 min, 500 text deal for £35, will they definitely not budge on that?
