I've added myself too. I'm also with O2, but like others, I'm waiting for Orange to release their iPhone, so O2 should be at least a little more competitive with their retention deals. They've been pretty p*ss poor lately.

I was hopeing to wait for Orange but I think im going to have to start a new contract with O2, as im on Virgin at the moment on a sim only deal.

The reason why is im going to Australia very soon and so would be great to have an iPhone with me.

I think waiting to long will get messy with transfering my number etc.

    Any thoughts?

Have you thought about the fact you'll be stuck on a rubbish tariff for about 2 years, just because you would "like" an iPhone before your travels. I'd personally get frustrated myself for the remaining months if I did that.

The tarrifs arnt that great, that is true. But are Orange really going to be that much better?

Il be getting £60 quidco back and trying to save a bit downgrading the tariff after 9 months.

Not a lot I know but somthing at least. If only orange release details, although that will probably be the day after I order it from O2!
  • I think people are kidding themselves if they think Orange are going to be any cheaper, O2 are permanently sold out of the 3GS, so why would Orange take a hugely popular product and sell it cheaper. They'll sell every one they get, even if the match O2 for price, as some people will just have a network preference.

It's not a case of either network selling their phones cheaper. What should happen however, is O2 being a little less stingy when it comes to retention deals. They've already lost a large proportion of their customer base because of them becoming the "iPhone network".
