the prices almost definitely will NOT go down. Apple want the Iphone brand to be seen as 'exclusive' and 'designer' much like the fashion world where a lot of price fixing goes on. As a result i dont see prices going down any time soon. But there will be a bit more choice in tarriffs for consumers now that Orange have got the phone.0

Vodafone getting the Iphone too : http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/09/29/vodafone_iphone/
That just leaves T Mobile in the UK without it ....0 -

They're merging with Orange anyway.0 -
Looks like there are some good shows to see among the phone operator.....just wait and see who will win. I am out from O2 because they really not treating their (Loyalty) customers good enough.0

Orange and T-mobile will probably rebrand anyway.0

So, it being that I cant afford an i-phone - whats the best cheap clone? I have had a look online and there are too many for a novice like me to understand the tech specs.
I want -
a calendar I can write/use stick thing (not type, get carpal tunnel) in day to day (freelance hairdresser)
a camera of 3 megapixels if poss (at least 2)
er, thats it really.....
Any ideas?0 -

nothing comes close to an iphone for usability. Theres plenty of cheap clones from Samsung and LG but theyre really crap and cheap imitations. I'd say if you can afford the £440 PAYG price upfront go for the Iphone ... its by far the most expensive phone I've ever purchased, but after 3 months i still havent got bored of it(usually i get bored of a new phone after a week)
If you must buy a 'cheaper' alternative, take a look at the Nokia 5800 - i think you can get PAYG versions for around £150 or even cheaper if you look around.0 -
Yeah, I've set my mind now on a 3GS, but am playing the waiting game since Orange and Voda's announcements - am tempted by the thought of Orange Wednesday 2-4-1 film tickets! However I've always been put off by Orange's horrendous call charges so am anxious to see the pricing structures (am currently a light user on PAYG Virgin mobile). I'd be using the phone primarily for its GPS/maps facility (need that compass!) and the apps, as well as general (yet relatively light) texting/calling. Would go for the SIMplicity deal if I didn't care so much about the visual voicemail, but I really think this would improve my life.
Partially the waiting game is due to surprisingly-difficult attempts to get a cashback credit card to buy with...nightmare...0 -
£23.33 now changed to £100 for 12 month sim, not sure if it was because I put in an enquiry or not.0
