Has anyone been able to upgrade to a 3gs more than 1 month earlier than the end of their contract?

    Hey all,

I ordered the 8gb 3g from ebay. I'm now working out what my best monthly plan would be. My options are:

    1. Simplicity £20/month w/ unlimited web bolt on and more texts and minutes than i could use. £100 kickback through quidco. So £12/month
    ................
    3. Some three sim only. Which i don't like the options of as it's only 150mb in data allowance which i will very easily go over once i start streaming mp3s over 3g from my home computer.

    Many thanks

I'm not particularly technical so forgive me if I've misunderstood but I'm not sure the simplicity option allows you to do the things you mention in number three, well not without paying extra. Tethering (using your phone as the internet access for your home computer) is an extra £15 a month I believe and the web bolt on doesn't allow streaming anything, it's intended for browsing, emails, the more basic stuff isn't it?
The simplicity deal seems a pretty good deal to me (mine arrived today!) but it does depend what you are intending doing with it. Also in your figures, you were comparing with an 18 month contract, you have accounted for the loss of cashback at the end of the 12 months but not the additional £10 a month charge for the web usage that would kick in at that stage.

    OK, seriously considering the Iphone.

Can someone help me with these questions please.

-if I buy a PAYG for £440, with the free internet use, can I then switch to a Simplicity contract of 150 mins and 300 texts for £9.79, and get the £100 cashback through quidco? Will I then lose my inclusive internet usage (that’s the main reason I’m going for the Iphone) If so I’ll then need to go for the £19.58 tariff with unlimited web bolt on?

Sorry for the silly questions, just trying to work out the cheapest way of getting one.

    Thanks

You will not get £100 quidco cashback on the £9.79 contract as this is not a 12 month sim only and this also doesnt come with a bolt on so u will have to pay £7.50 extra for the web bolt on.

ok, Thanks. but I would if I go for the £19.58?

So if I buy a PAYG one, will there be any issues with me then taking out the £19.58 simplicity contract and using that?

    Thanks

    Hey everyone
im 15 and i am looking to buy an Iphone 3gs 16gb but i have no idea to start and i hope you can help. I have a part time job but unfortunatly this does not pay very well, so i am very limited in money. Basically, i want to know the cheapest place where i could buy the model i am after, i have £250 saved over roughly a year, and have been offered £30 for my current phone. That means either a pay and go phone for £280 (i could take this up to 300), or a contract for less than that amount of money, which could be paid for on roughly £10 a month.
    Thankyou for any help
  • Sneaker,
I got the £19.58 (11.25) sim deal and it is currently working fine in my iPhone. If you are buying a PAYG iphone, then the same should apply.

    DMX2,
buying an iPhone on ebay is almost certainly the route you should take to get best value. A 3GS is probably out of your bracket but a 16gb 3G should be achievable for about £300. 2G go for about £180. But then you would still need to quickly grab the current O2 Simplicity (12month) contract as it runs out on 17.8.09 (at present). Who would pay the £19.58/month and get the £100 cashback? As you are 15, O2 won't give you a contract...
...and then the window licker said to me...

Is there a large difference in features between the 3G and the 3GS or is it basically just the speed + video capture?
And if i bought an unlocked phone, im quite technically savvy, i wouldnt need the simplicity contract would i? Unless the £100 cashback outweighed the savings from being on pay as you go...
    Thanks, Russ

Oh, and my parents would be the legal owners i suppose
