I got the £19.58 (11.25) sim deal and it is currently working fine in my iPhone. If you are buying a PAYG iphone, then the same should apply.
DMX2,
buying an iPhone on ebay is almost certainly the route you should take to get best value. A 3GS is probably out of your bracket but a 16gb 3G should be achievable for about £300. 2G go for about £180. But then you would still need to quickly grab the current O2 Simplicity (12month) contract as it runs out on 17.8.09 (at present). Who would pay the £19.58/month and get the £100 cashback? As you are 15, O2 won't give you a contract...
I`m manging to get a new 3g 8 gig for 290 thru a friend. then my plan is to get a 02 simplicty £19 .99 + free web bolt on or simular Sim only tarrif from one of the other companies (which one is best? ), but vodaphone have said that they will beat it so hoping to barter to the max, What u reckon i should barter for ?0 -
I preferred O2 than Iphone.0

Think it was these, but can`t be sure.......
Cellular Data settings on mine (accessed via `settings` > `general` > `network` > `cellular data network` (bear in mind it might be different on yours)... are
APN mobile.o2.co.uk

Really glad to hear that this works. I worked out I could save nearly £125 over 12 months using this workaround compared to O2's standard tariffs.
Any advice/feedback on which phone would be best? I'm tempted by the 32GB but I'm not sure if it'll be too much. I'd like to mainly use it for phone/pic storage/browsing, but might like to use it as a Tom Tom too in the future.0 -
robo999,
If Vodaphone give you a 12 month sim only deal which beats the O2 deal (800mins/1600texts/unlimited web access for £19.58/month) then take it. Otherwise, it's time to walk. I take it that you couldn't or didn't want to secure the O2 deal before the cashback was reduced earlier this month?...and then the window licker said to me...0 -

hi all,
so im thinking of taking the iphone plunge and hoped you could guide me through the best way to get one with at least 300 mins, 300 texts and internet included...
I'm currently out of contract on a sim only deal with virgin mobile so have no contract to worry about or anything, starting from square one basically... advice?0 -
Ive been pricing one up
Was thinking of doing the PAYG 16gb 3GS + SIMPLICITY £19.58/month for 12 months.
So Costing:
Iphone £440.40
Initial topup - £10
SIMPLICITY 12 * £19.58
Total = £685.36 for 12months
But heres what I saw as the benefits:
800mins + 800texts + unlimited internet/data
If want unlimited wifi bolt on add extra cost per month for that one which will allow the use of the cloud and BTopenzone.
only tied for 12months
the PAYG SIM once registered also comes with free data AND wifi - was thinking of using this in a dongle for my laptop? or selling to someone who wants data and wifi.
Obviously nice new iphone 3GS
What you think?0 -
that's about £57 per month for that first 12 but i guess it evens out after that...
wouldnt going for the 18 month contract iphone for £44.05 a month plus £87 for the iphone be about the same? it's an 18 month contract but works out at about £51 per month... could you lower the tarrif after 12 months (or less maybe?) and make it a bit cheaper still...
It's all a little out of my price range right now unfortunately... I'm currently paying £15 a month for a sim only and my handset cost me £50 from ebay, meaning right now at the most im paying £230 a year mobile costs... I don't mind paying some more to get an iphone and internet access but tripling my current outgoings is just not possible!
i guess ill stick with my current phone and an ipod touch for now!0 -
I am looking at getting an iPhone, but am also considering the iPod Touch.
The iPod is basically the same as the iPhone but without the phone part and the camera. Actually, there are rumors it may get a camera soon, but I digress...
The iPod is also a lot, lot cheaper: £165 for the 8GB version for £214 for the 16GB version. Literally half the price of a PAYG iPhone.
You get all the same apps and features. If you jailbreak it you can install VOIP to make phone calls over wifi and you can download maps of an area you are going to visit for use with GPS.
I'd love to have the phone and camera, but it's hard to justify the extra expense when I can just carry on using my current phone (a pretty good Nokia N73 hand-me-down).0 -

I was of a similar mindset - considering either the Iphone and Ipod Touch. But with an Iphone its so much easier as youre only carrying ONE device for music, phone, GPS, games etc.
If I had an Ipod Touch I know I wont carry it round with me everywhere, so thats where the added value of the Iphone comes in.
Ultimately only you can decide if the extra cost of the Iphone is worth it for you though.0
