  • Just cancelled my o2 contract as o2's best deal was £199 upfront, 18 months and 35 per month for 300 mins, unlimited texts and 500mg of data.

I need a contract that is like Tescos basically (the £20 pcm 350 upfront deal - defo need 1gb data), but there appear to be none in stock? Can anyone advise me on the next best one for that kinda money (with or without cashback?)

Thanks soooooooo much for any advice![/they are in stock at Tesco Mobile -see posts below]
  • Although the Tesco website says the iPhone 4 16GB is out of stock, and every Tesco Extra within a 50-mile radius (South Wales) has also sold out and can't tell me when they'll next be getting a delivery, I found that if you call Tesco Mobile directly on 0800 4334990, you can order one and have it delivered in 2-5 working days!

As long as you know what you want, and don't need to actually talk to someone face to face, and handle the phone etc, this is the easiest way to get your hands on one. Everyone seems to agree that the Tesco deal of £20 a month for a 12 month contract, paying £349 up front for the handset is the best deal around at the moment. They will also ask for another £20 up front by the way, for the first month's contract, so you'll be handing over a grand total of £369. Hope this is helpful!

Thanks just ordered seemed no problem at all!!!!

You're welcome! Update on mine: it came yesterday - only took 1 day, unbelievable service! I would definitely recommend Tesco, plus apparently you can get points on your Clubcard for your monthly mobile spend.
  • Thanks for the heads-up purplebubble27. Wanted one for ages and now ordered. Christmas pressie to myself. :j
  • I spend half an hour this afternoon ringing round every Tesco phone shop around Hertfordshire but all out of stock, will be calling tesco direct tomorrow, thanks for that
  • Thankyou purplebubble27. Have just ordered mine! Eventhough when I rang, the initial phone message said 'none in stock' but I perservered and spoke to a salesperson and they do have stock. Cheers!:T

Have any of you had to claim with insurance2go before?
  • O2 are doing refurb iPhone 3G's free, starting from a £25 per month tariff. Quidco are offering £100 cashback on this deal.

I was about to spend £160 on a pay and go Wildfire but decided instead to get the O2 £30 tariff on an 18month contract, which when i factored in the £100 cashback and £160 the wildfire would have cost me, this works out at £15.50 per month.

Then when I consider the cost of top ups for the Wildfire, or even a continuation of the £10 per month contract she has now, it was a no brainer.

i don't know if anyone else has a teenager who's after an iphone but this seems a good compromise. Not the most recent model, but a great starter iphone, that will double up as an ipod, with a manufacturer's guarantee.

    I'm rather pleased! :)

pleased you like the deal, cant think why when you are explaining the deal you got, you are including the £160 you would have paid if you brought another phone, that point is pretty much irrelevant, its like me saying i would win the lottery tomorrow, if only i brought a ticket, i personally dont think it is that good a deal from my perspective, for instance i got a brand new iphone 4 16gb from 3, on a £35 per month tariff(only £5 more than yours) albeit mines on a 24 month contract, but i get 500 minutes, 5000 texts, 3000 minutes 3 to 3 calls, 1 gb data and 150 mms messages, and you have got a 2 and half year old iphone as part of your deal, not having a go, if it suits yoiu then it is ok, just think o2 have a bit of a cheek to offer this deal on a used 2 and half year old phone thats all
Take every day as it comes!!

I explained about the Wildfire in case anyone else reading this was planning on buying their kid a similar priced phone and to demonstrate my reasoning behind my choice from a personal point of view.
Yes, this may not be for everybody but:

    A) I didn't want to get tied into a 24 month contract.
    B) I felt it important to teach my daughter the value of things and that sometimes in life you need to 'work your way up' to the best.
    C) £35 per month for 24 months is too much for my budget for her.
    D) 3 didn't offer £100 cashback
    E) 3's phones aren't free

and finally, I wouldn't touch 3 with a rusty bargepole. O2 is excellent reception where we live, 3 is awful.

Ultimately, I was simply trying to help others.

    That is all. :)
