  • Hi, I'm looking for some opinions on these two deals I'm considering.

I'm looking for a 32GB iPhone 4, and was going to go for the Tesco 12 month contract (£35 per month, £299 for the phone, 700 min, unlimited test 1GB data) and my local store has them in stock so that's not an issue.

But, when I called O2 retentions for my PAC code they offered me an 18 month deal paying £244 for the phone and £35 per month for 500 min plus unlimited o2 to o2, unlimited texts, and 500 mb data.

I realise there are more mins and data with the tesco deal, but the 500 would probably be ok for me, and I have been with o2 for years and tesco network is an bit of an unknown quantity to me, so this has thrown me a bit and I'm wondering if I should stick with o2.

Overall cost for tesco 12 month is £720, so £60 per month, but then i could upgrade or go on to a sim only. (If I then went on to £15 per month sim only for 6 months it would cost £45 per month for 18 months)

Overall cost for o2 18 month is £874, so £48.50 per month, but i'm stuck with them and the phone.

Any thoughts would be welcome, the more I think about it the more confused I get.

Tesco and O2 are the same network, so don't let that influence your decision.

I really like O2 for their customer service. From a "moneysaving" point of view, they are not the best. From a "stress free existence" point of view, they are currently the top firm.

The difference between your two prices is (£874 - £819) £55 over 18 months (or £3.05 a month). You have based your calculation on being able to drop to the £15 tariff after 12 months with Tesco, but I can't see that they are offering that as an iPhone tariff. You may find yourself stuck with switching again after the year is up.

So for the price of a pint of beer each month, are you willing to switch providers?
In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move.

  • I had registred my name with Tesco mobile I had a call from them a few minutes ago, they have iPhones in stock, the person I spoke to was Darren if anyone is interested.
  • simpleguy_blr did Tesco Mobile offer to take your details to call you back or did you ask them to call you back? I called on Monday and they told me they had no phones in stock & did not offer to take my details

How long did you wait to get a call back?

The first time I called they did not offer, but then I rang back again in 5 minutes and told them that I would like to register my details and darren did me the favour. This was yesterday morning around 10:00, got a ring back around 15:00 stating that they had the iPhone 4, I could not speak to them as I was in a meeting, they offered to ring back first thing in the morning, which they did.

    Cheers

Has anyone looked at the Vodafone offer with Quidco?
Double commission on all pay monthly handset iPhone4 orders with Vodafone - Highest ever rate on Quidco for 1 week only! + £80.00 cashback at Vodafone

How much would the true cost be for a 16GB, 18 month contract?

  • Went into nearest Tesco store to my work, Boreham Wood and they had 40 iphones delivered Friday morning. I was the eighth person to get one and this was at 430pm and they were just about to announce over the tannoy that they had just had some phones for sale. I took it out on the 12 month £20 a month on Tesco Mobile paying £349 for the phone
