What's the best PAYG deal atm, or are they all the same?0

Called Tesco Extra in Aberdeen, and reserved my iPhone 4. However they are waiting on sims due in on Thursday.
Can't wait to get hold of it.:j0 -
Just puchased iPhone 4 a few days ago from phones4u. It was £89 with a £40/month contract (24 months), which includes unlimited texts (3000 technically) & 900 minutes & either 750 MB or 1 GB internet. phones4u was very helpful in that it's a one-stop shop; one can purchase both a handset and either PAYG or contract service with major mobile providers, and the salespeople were very helpful.
REALLY wanted to go through Tesco, but the deal is in so much demand that it was damn near impossible to get one. Being new here, waiting for Tesco to re-stock was not an option. Asked around and my friend recommended Carphone Warehouse and phones4u. Carphone Warehouse only sold iPhone plans, not handsets. phones4u sells handsets & plans. In my opinion, an £89 iPhone 4 is pretty decent. In addition, different mobile companies provide different plans. phones4u helped me navigate through it all.Listing debts to help keep my eyes on the prize

Long time reader (lurker?) first time poster, but this Iphone 4 thing has put me over the edge to chime in. I've been looking for a while and am a Iphone newbie.
I've been with 02 for years and had a PAYG with 3 before that and had SUCH a bad experience that I can't bring myself to go back to them.
I just found on mobiles.co.uk a 18 month plan with 02 for £35/m and £179 upfront (plus 65 cashback quidco) for 300 mins pm. I then assumed that I'll switch to a £15/m PAYG on 02 when done for the next 6 months to compare it with the 3 deal (with cash back).
My calculations are:
02
179-65 = 114 (handset)
35 x 18 = 630 (contract)
15 x 6 = 90 (PAYG sim)
Total pm for 24 mos = £34.75
3
99-64 = 35 (handset)
30 x 24 = 720
Total p/m for 24 mos = £31.45
I do like the buffer of another 200 mins on 3, but has anyone had any decent experiences with them? I just hate the idea of giving them any money again, but when do you let go of your principles for a good bargain? Feedback appreciated!0 -
Looks good, how do you know though that it will be £15 per month after contract is up and how does quidco work?0

My past experiences with O2 CS aren't good but I'm currently in dispute with Three CS, too, so there's much of a muchness there as far as I'm concerned. Are you certain you can get the Quidco cashback with O2 if you upgrade? Also, how easy will it be to PAC your number over staying with the same network if you need to take out a new contract to get the Quidco money? If you are happy on both of these issues then I'd be tempted to stick with O2. An 18 month deal means you could go on a 30-day rolling contract which would put you in a good position to upgrade to the iPhone after the next one in 2012 (and you know you're going to want to).If I've helped you please show your appreciation by using the "Thanks" button

I took out a 12 month contract with Tesco on an iPhone 3GS in April. When the iPhone 4 came out I wanted one, but Tesco wouldn't entertain me!
So I purchased sim free iPhone 4 from apple store, Tesco agreed to send me a micro sim to continue to use my contract with them on my sim free new iPhone 4.
Tesco wouldn't unlock the old 3GS, claiming they couldn't until December as that is when they started selling iPhones?
I got a payg sim for O2 and after loading with some credit and making a few calls, filled out an online form to get the 3GS unlocked.
It cost £15 but within 24 hours they sent me an SMS telling me the 3GS was unlocked, after connecting to iTunes this was confirmed.
I then put the unlocked 32gb 3GS on eBay and got £390 for it.
Although perhaps not the cheapest way of doing it, I now have an unlocked iPhone 4 which I am using on a £35 a month Tesco contract until next april, after that I will shop around for 1 monthly deals possibly with O2.
Then when iPhone 5 (inevitably) arrives I can purchase again from apple and eBay the already unlocked iPhone 4, without any contract issues.
I am currently comparing sim only iPhone deals and am aware of some limitations on Tesco mobile;
No call waiting
Wireless is only bt openzone whereas O2 offer the cloud as well
I believe three don't offer any wireless access, not sure about call waiting?
Anyone know what vodafone, orange and t mobile offer?0 -
Going to go this route in a week to get the cashback, I will pick the unlimited internet. As a matter of interest, on the simplicity bolt on, what's unlimited wi-fi?
Also after 12 months I presume you can use the PAYG sim that came with the Iphone?
So it's upgrade time, I was wondering if anyone else has upgraded on the 02 simplicity deal? What's the best option?
when I enter my upgrade code it gives me simplicity o2 1 month deals, not 12 months. In the FAQs it says just select current tariff if you want to keep what you are on thenm I guess I could have credit?
Anyone help out please?0
