Spent a whole weekend with my OH to try get her an iPhone 4 and we managed to walk out with one from the shop!

We first tried 3, where we had to wait until Sunday midday because the credit check got referred and they were having some "technical" difficulties. So she passed the check, only to be told they won't let her get the contract because her passport was handwritten! How irratating, and it is a genuine passport even the manager said she knows it was, but apparently it's company policy to only accept customers who have printed passports. It seemed the staff member didn't check the passport properly when we filled in the details on Saturday!

We next tried Phones4U, where they did credit checks on O2, Vodaphone and Orange which failed for some reason. They just kept running those checks without asking my OH for her consent so I figured her credit score was destroyed by them.

Last on the table was Carphone Warehouse, where we ran a check on Orange (She's been with them for 7 years) which passed. Now, she's happy with her black iPhone 4 16gb which we walked out with, paying £119 for the phone and £35 a month :)

It's great you managed to get the iPhone you (or your OH) wanted.

Just as a word of caution to others its usually a good idea to avoid so many credit checks on your credit history. It would be nice if they asked beforehand although the permission is probably hidden within the application form and most people aren't aware of the implications.

Yeah, I'm aware of the implications, it's supposed to be 3 searches every 3 months as the general rule. I was quite surprised she passed after those Phones4U checks so I'm only thinking that the CRA's don't update during weekends.

Anyway, I've told her no more for a few months since she got her bank changed and a store card within the last 2 months. I'm quite happy with my HTC from my first ever contract so now she can boost about her new toy :)

My new iPhone 4 arrived today. Should have been here Friday then two iPhones arrived today !! Its taken numerous telephone calls to Voda customer service to achieve it however. I pushed them for a credit to cover the inconvenience and received £50 so top marks for that.

For reference, O2 customer service is way better and they seem to have better/clearer telephone lines too (very strange). Anyway the 3GS will be going on eBay to help pay for it ....

Hi.I am thinking about getting an iphone 3GS 16gb. I was wondering if anyone knew of any good deals. I am currently on 02 at the end of my contract.
After looking online I found probably the cheapest deal is with Vodafone 300 mins, unlimited texts, 1gb data £35 p.m for 18 months plus £89 upfront. So its makes £719 in total.

What annoys me is that a lot of networks are offering 600 mins for the same price, however, I barely use 300 mins so its not worth it. Does anyone if could get deal with 300 mins, unlimited texts and 1gb data for £25? Please help. My contract finishes in september.

Just out of interest I have just sold my unlocked 3GS on eBay for £290. If you were to buy a used 3GS then go for a Simplicity tariff at £20 per month this works out at £650 over 18 months. I think you can also get cheaper SIM only tariffs.

Dunno, I signed up to the list thing a couple week back to be notified when they get them in stock.

Thinking of paying the £349 for the phone on a £20pm contract which has ample mins and text for my usage.

Yeah same here, have you had any emails from them?
Planning on getting the £35pm contract myself.
