So for a small user like me, who would like unlimited texts, internet and just a few minutes (100 should be fine) am I right in thinking that's a better option?0
-
Be aware that according to the Giff Gaff site, free internet ends on the 1st of October, after that it's 50p/day for 2.5-30mb use, which is probably most people. So you will be paying an extra £15/month on top of the £10...it would appear that Giff Gaff is definately NOT a good option if you want internet.
I think it's still unlimited when you buy a goodie bag0 -
Ahh! Sorry I'm an idiot
And yeah I think (hope!) its free with a goodie bag?0 -
Sorry, I take it all back, if it's still free with a goodie bag then it's a good deal...I misunderstood what the Giff Gaff site was saying (in my defence I don't think it's 100% clear, but maybe I was being thick); presumably the 50p/day only applies if you haven't bought a goodie bag that month. I'll just get back in my box...:embarasse0

You are right about it not being clear, think it was either somewhere on here or on the giff gaff forum where it was clarifiedSorry, I take it all back, if it's still free with a goodie bag then it's a good deal...I misunderstood what the Giff Gaff site was saying (in my defence I don't think it's 100% clear, but maybe I was being thick); presumably the 50p/day only applies if you haven't bought a goodie bag that month. Okay, my calculations for this are probably an epic fail but here we go:
iPhone 4 on Tesco:
£429 + (12 * 20) = £669
iPhone 4 PAYG then GiffGaff:
£499 + (12 * 10) - £619
So for a small user like me, who would like unlimited texts, internet and just a few minutes (100 should be fine) am I right in thinking that's a better option?
My main problem is ideally I need a phone like *now* and the wait on the Apple site is 3 weeks, hmm.
The tesco price is the 32GB version.
So it should be
16GB
iPhone 4 on Tesco:
£349 + (12 * 20) = £589
iPhone 4 PAYG then GiffGaff:
£499 + (12 * 10) - £619
or
32GB
iPhone 4 on Tesco:
£429 + (12 * 20) = £669
iPhone 4 PAYG then GiffGaff:
£599 + (12 * 10) - £719
But note that the Apple PAYG iPhone come unlocked and the Tesco ones are locked to Tesco/O2 (but can be unlocked at end of contract)0 -
Sorry for such a late reply, got caught up at work earlier so couldn't - but you're right of course and thanks so much for the maths, probably also worth considering that the Tesco deal gets a lot more minutes, as well as being cheaper, it's a no brainer I guess really, just have to wait it out
Cheers again for the workings out etc, I'm so stupid at times!0 -

And go where?
All the networks are offering more or less the same deal on iPhone 4 (give or take a few quid or so over the contract life when you even it out to a monthly cost.). Lets face it the networks are selling everyphone they get, they don't need to discount it to sell and they know it.
It's also against Apples premium brand image to be discounted whilst almost immposible to prove I'd suspect that anyone who did try and discount the iphone to any degree would find their supplies started to slow down due to logistics problems.0 -

It's business. Phone companies exist to make a profit for shareholders, not to be nice and offer great deals. Very few people will change providers and the few that do won't get a mega deal anywhere else on a new top of the range smartphone.
There is NOT any competition in the market, there may be five big players but take any phone (and not just the iPhone) and look at it across the various providers.
Take the Desire when you work it out on all networks it's £720 to £750 over 24 months, all on very similar tarrifs in terms of minutes texts and data. Even going Sim Free Expansys sell the Desire for £429, and adding in the cheapest tarrif of a simialr rate to the ones above thats £15 a month and hence a little more expensive than a contract (although I realises you can get out after a much shorter period).
There is no competition in the market. The providers tweak the offering so they are not comparable, one has more data, one more texts, or another a cheaper monthly cost but more for the phone, but at the end of the day for any given phone, over the life of the contract there is very little difference in the bottom line price.0 -
Cheapest way to get an iphone I found is as follows:
Get a 3gs 16gb. Get a lloydstsb acc with mobile phone insurance and reg it, wait 14 days!
Then go for a bike ride and get up to around 15mph, then drop the 3gs causing to smash.
Then claim accidental damage and after loads of calls £30 and shouting at them as they need to rung daily or they will sit on your claim.
They pay out £490
You to can have iphone 4 from £390
