I bought an iPhone from O2, with a pay as you go card. Topped up with £15, registered on the O2 site and then requested the phone to be unlocked. Waited 4 days (could be as long as 14 days) and hey presto, the text arrived saying that the phone was officially unlocked. You then sync with iTunes and put in the alternative SIM. Everything works fine. Virgin do a SIM only deal for £15, rolling 30 day contract, which gives 200 minutes, unlimited text and unlimited internet. Perfect. .0

I rang vodafone for the second time to get my pac code, as was considering going to o2. I have been with vodafone for 7 years plus.
i received my pac code and the gentleman at the other end asked why i was leaving vodafone i told him i was going to go to tesco and get a 12 month contract for £35 month and £200 upfront he told me the best he could do was a £35 month 18 month contract 600 mins unlimited texts/web. for a 16gs which had been sent back but not used. Vodafone seem to have no bargaining power with the apple phone, if i wanted another non apple phone i could get a really good deal due to time of service with them. But because of this they are going to lose my custom and how many other vodafone customers by not being flexible enough with the price plans. Ill be ringig tesco next week to get my new Iphone!:beer:0 -
Hi, I rang the o2 retentions people for an iphone. He offered me 300 mins talktime and unlimited text and data for £24 a month 24 month contract for the 8g refurb handset. I persisted and said the 300 mins wasn't really worth it for me as probably use no more than 60-70 mins so he then offered me 100 mins talktime and unlimited data/text on 24 month contract for £20 a month.0

just rang vodafone, spoke to one helpful guy who said i could get an immediate upgrade as i had been with them so long. Spoke to an upgrade guy who flatly refused to do me a deal on an iphone "we have to sell at these prices with standard conracts". My contract is not up till 31/7 but i am going to swallow it an get a better deal now. Vodafone have no regard for customer service nor do they seem bothered that a long term customer will leave. USELESS!0

Had you read the rest of this thread (or indeed any of it), you'd know that Vodafone have no power to offer better deals on the iPhone, neither do any other networks...
o2 offer some deals, but they are on refurbished iPhones...
Apple set the prices and if the networks don't stick to them, they'd no doubt lose their iPhone rights...
So the phone you want somuch, well blame Apple, not the networks.
If consumers had a little more strength and didn't pretty much beg for a phone that is, as far as hardware goes, inferior... well maybe Apple would not be so tough on prices.
I mean where else would people be willing to take a refurbished phone at what is essentially full price?... I certainly wouldn't...
Mind you, if I was Apple... I'd do the same. money inmypocket and all.0 -
Just coming to the end of 12 mths on o2 payandgo 8gb 3G Iphone. (The original outlay included the first 12 months web & wi-fi)
I'm now looking at going onto a pay monthly deal. Tesco's offer of 500 mins plus unlimited texts & web/wi-fi for £15 on a 30 day contract seems a better option than o2's cheapest 30 day simplicity. They only offer 300 mins plus unlimited texts & web/wi-fi & the cost is £20.
The messages on this thread seem to rate the o2 deal as the best-is there something I'm missing on the Tesco offer? (Also considering upgrading to the 16gb GS-but that's another decision to be made!)0 -
Im not sure but I think maybe the tesco deal has only cameout recently so maybe not many people know of it?Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0

I can see that the Tesco deal does restrict usage "Unlimited calls, texts, web & data: fair use policy applies. Monthly data allowance 500Mb" O2 says "Excessive usage policy applies" but doesn't seem to say what the limit is.
I think that 500Mb would be enough for me so will probably go with Tesco.0 -
On balance the Tesco 12 Month deal looks the best for me.
Anyone know of anywhere to get any discount coupons to use in store to lower the price?0
