gulp... what have i started ;-) ... dare i say this... o2 sent me wrong phone (3g), my partner was going to get 3gS but was happy with 3G. So i said to woman at 02 well ill just out my sim in his phone and use that. She said no no no it will invalidate any warranty as its not your phone.

hope that clears things up... chances are o2 are telling a few porkies ...

Yes, it seems like it will invalidate warranty with them because "computer says NO":rotfl:and they cannot pair it up with you SIM.

What happened to us before now was that we reported phone stolen, but because this guy had swaped phone with his mate, the mate's phone went dead (as they disable it when it's reported stolen) automaticaly together with the SIM of the other guy... Because the phone company had it registered together - the SIM and the IMEI... And they were not able to put the phone right ever again, so there were two guys with not even a number for their missus or pictures or anything..... :rotfl::rotfl:

  • Hi all,

I've been reading this thread for what seems like forever!! My contract finished at the end of jan but I've never got round to upgrading.

I've been looking today at new phones and quite fancy an iphone if the price is right.

I rang o2 my current providor and said I wanted to cancel. He offered me:

8gb 3g refurb iphone for free (in stock)
    500mins xnet, anytime
    unlimited texts
    unlimited wifi and internet
    24 month contract

    £25/month.

I know this is the oldest versin of the iphone but didnt think it was too bad a deal (some of you will probably think its crap!!) Would prefer a 3gs but no refurbs in stock and the man wasnt very helpful.

My other main issue is the 24 month contract!! Guy said thats all they offer but I know from reading this thread that o2 have given out 18month contracts. I've been with them for 6years so should be a valued customer.

Do i hold out for 3gs? How can I get them down to 24month contract?

And in fact, with regards the iPhone it is actually far easier to deal with Apple, walk into any Apple store and say "it's broken", and they resolve any warranty faults while you wait.

Spot on! Would rather deal with Apple over any phone provider when it comes to any warranty issue. Apple's customer service is second to none!

I would force their hand, go look at the Tesco's offers on the iPhones (I believe they are better value) and tell o2 that you don't want that offer as Tesco are better value and the contracts are for 12 months.
:exclamatiTo the internet.. I need to complain about something!

I think much depends on what advisor you get....some are great and others are awful no matter how polite you are !! With regard to the 18m v 24m contract.......I have asked for 18m after the initial 24m offer and they reworked the deal. However, after 3 weeks of ringing everyday, they still do not have any of the 3gs refurbs in stock and the 02 advisor said today that they may not be getting anymore !:(

    Loops,

I had a similar response from 02, so I then replied again, to receive a similar blah blah to be told that I need to take my gripes up with the retentions, as that customer service complaints team have nothing to do with retentions ! I generally thought if you was making a complaint regarding 02, it was one of the same !! :(
  • Well I went ahead with the deal from o2.

    refurb 8gb 3g iphone
    500mins
    unlimited texts, data and wifi
    24month contract

    £25 per month.

I could have gone for 18 month but would have been £30 per month.

Always got the option to upgrade to 3gs and very helpful lady said that 'if and when' apple bring out a new iphone then 3gs will be an ugrade option to current 3g owners.

Im happy with what I have got Tesco would have worked out more expensive over 12 months personally for me.

It all depends on which person answers your call at o2! :j

I rang 3 today to get my PAC code as I have got one of the O2 sims on offer. However when I said I was leaving they offered me an IPhone. It is the 16gb 3GS £25.00 per month for 700 minutes talk or text and unlimited internet, wifi, e-mails etc. Phone is £99.00 and contract is 24 months. Does that sound good?
