  • My contract was up with O2; I wanted an iphone; well, SWMBO did anyway....;)

So I called up O2; they offered me a "reboxed" (not refurb, she was determined to tell me!) Black iPhone 16GB 3GS for £30 cash, then £25pm with 300mins (we only use 200pm at the moment), unlimited texts & internet on a 24-month contract.

I could have haggled more probably, but have called 3 different "find a phone" shops since: they all say that they can't do much on iPhones, and that they couldn't come close to this deal. So I am happy.:)

Anyone done better; because I've got 14 days cooling-off....!:D

why not just wait 3 months until the new iPhone is out?

You sure about that, I am getting abit edgy about it, as Apple hasnt said anything about it yet :S

The clues are there.... you just have to look

Someone suggested going on a simplicity tariff for a few months.

Thanks for the reply, I'd actually read the comment from geekgirl and was wondering if anyone else had managed to get a deal thats all.

But yeah I had seen the simplicity tariff idea also. I sent an email to o2 with regards to pay & go customers being treated unfairly (worth a try) and was fed the following story:

    Good Afternoon Jamie

Thank you for contacting us regarding refurbished iPhone with Pay & Go
    connection.

I understand that you're concerned about having refurbished iPhone 3G S
with your Pay & Go connection.

Unfortunately, I'll be unable to comment on the available deals.
However, you need not to worry.

What you need to do is to simply contact our sales team as they have all
the details of the products handy.

I would request that you should contact them to discuss the excellent
    sales options available to you.

Please call on 08706 007 102 then lines are open:

    - Monday to Saturday between 8am and 8pm
    - Sunday between 10am and 6pm.

Calls are free of charge from O2 Pay Monthly phones and at national rate
    from fixed line phones

I hope that you'll get something suitable to your needs from our Sales
    team.

    Have a nice day ahead.

    Kind regards

I moved to the CPW for my last contract. I phoned up 202 just out of curiosity and ended up getting my upgrade early through Retentions, so now I'm an o2 Online customer again. They had all the info about my usage, etc that they would have for any o2 customer, and gave me a better deal than the CPW did 16 months ago. Could've got a refurb iPhone, had they been in stock, but I'm too impatient so payed £59 for a new 16g 3GS.

Having ordered my 3gs refurb I checked my account online only to see they had put me on the wrong tariff - an extra £5 per month!

Phoned retentions and in less than a 2 minute call all was sorted and changed without any arguement. Shows the power retentions have compared to other departments!

Well done O2 - and a warning to others to check the tariff as it may not be the one you are expecting.

Now just hope my phone arrives today.

Have read this thread with interest, hope everyone got their phones yesterday, just a small warning if you haven't.....I ordered mine on Wednesday after waiting for weeks and I came away feeling something wasn't right, so I emailed them yesterday after seeing that my order wasn't online, just as well I did as it turns out the woman I spoke to had ordered it for me but FORGOT to click the process button so I wasn't going to get it, anyway I spoke to someone today and they were brilliant and as it's their error they are sending me a brand new 3gs as they have no refurbs in stock and they've given me extra mins in my tariff.

So if you spoke to a woman on Wednesday and your phone hasn't shown up or isn't showing online - double check!

Same happened to me. They didn't give me any inclusive texts, but they sorted it out pretty quickly when I phoned them. Just waiting on my first bill now as there are some text message charges on it that mounted up before it was corrected. Then another call to o2 will be necessary to tell them politely that I won't be paying for them as it was them who made the mistake.

See what you can get out of them - for putting me on the wrong tariff for 2 days (which is going to cost like 30p extra) they gave me a £5 credit on my bill and I didnt even ask for it.
