    I'm really cross! I have been with them for 16 months already so I would like some kind of loyalty discount. I just phoned Orange again and they offered me a 16gb 3GS for £89 on a 24 month £35 a month contract. I then rang O2 who agreed to do me the same deal as a new contract!! I also looked online at phones 4 u and I can get the same deal but onnly pay £87 for the phone with them!

    So basically Orange are charging me more than I could get on the high street!! I am waiting for the lady to ring me back so I can get my PAC code to change networks.
    Wins 2009:Total : £2500 :j
    First they came for the crack users; but I said nothing. I was not a crack user. Then they came for the heroin users. But I said nothing - I was not a heroin user. Then they came for me. There was no one left to speak for me. (after Pastor Niemoller)

    Sorry for not having read the previous 66 pages(!!!) of info, but does anybody know if a Tesco pay as you go iphone would work with an o2 sim in it, or if it would need unlocking?

    It will work, without unlocking.

    They basically told you the normal price as what a new customer would get. Check out their website http://shop.orange.co.uk/iphone/choose-your-plan

    iPhone cost £89.00 and monthly cost £35.00 is standard for 24mths
  • I'll be honest- I'm dreadful with technology, and I don't know anything about iPhones, Palms, Blackberrys or Raspberries, but I've decided that I do need a mobile phone that is connected to the internet as my current contract runs out in a couple of weeks. I usually get the cheapest available tariff I can find, but this plan has gone completely out of the window when comparing internet accessible phones. I'm flummoxed by it.

    I've played with friends' iPhones- they seem like alot of fun. The other half has a Blackberry but in my experience it's slow, doesn't display web pages very well and is not compatible with drunk and/or fat fingers. All I really want is to be able to access the web wherever, whenever, and the iPhone seems to fit that bill and more.

    Martin's article suggests buying the Tesco iPhone then switching sims- does this really work? Would I need a specific iPhone friendly sim, or will any old sim that allows internet access suffice? And do the infamous 'apps' still work once you've changed the sim???

    If you got the £20 12 month contract from Tesco, you could switch sims (o2 sims have been said to work, as it uses their network signal) but obviously this would only be worthwhile after you've paid off your 12 contracted months with Tesco.....and only if you can find a sim only deal with a better tariff for cheaper than the Tesco one :T

    Hmmm.. now I am tempted. I have now gone from the £45 a month contract to the £30 a month simplicity contract as my iPhone is now 18 months old. I am tempted to stay on this contract and then buy a Tesco PAYG, selling my current phone on ebay.

    Over 18 months
    Tesco PAYG 16Gb 3GS= £440
    Contract £30 x 18= 540
    Sell my old phone even with cracked screen= -£200
    Tesco club card points (880+440 for paying with Tesco CC reclaimed as vouchers and not spent instore)= £52.80
    Total cost over 18 months= £727.20

    Upgrade= £189
    Contract £45 x 18= £810
    Sell old phone= -£200
    Total= £799

    I can't decide if I should do this now or hold on for a couple of months and see what the 4g or whatever it is they are going to call it looks like. What would MSE do?

    ....or Tesco 16gb 3GS on 12 month contract = £320
    12 month Contract £20 x 12 = £240

    Over 12 months total = £360 (inc. £200 for your old phone sale!!).....then either switch to o2 iphone simplicity £19.58 contract or sell the 3GS to get the 4GS new one :T

    How many minutes do you get for that £20 a month? I use about 8-900 so need the 02 1200 minute a month plan.

    Oh, and do you have a link to this? I can't find it on the Tesco site? Also, can you take your mobile number with?

    For £20 you get either 300mins or 600 texts or a cobination of both.

    Its only available instore in the shops that have phone shop department.

    You can port your number you just need to get a pac code from your current provider. If you are with O2 you may be able to get a refurb 32gb for free from retentions.
