I managed to get through to them late this afternoon on about the 5th attempt...had a long hold once I did get past the "sorry, we are busy, call back later" stage but did finally get through. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Can I say a huge THANK YOU to the person who discovered the "3600" telephone number?
I tried the official phone number tonight, it responded, I went through selecting the appropriate options and was then cut off because the lines were too busy - net cost 2.5 minutes on a chargeable number.
So I tried the "overseas" number, prepared to fight my corner (why should I have to pay for them to tell me they are busy?) but the girl answered the phone, didn't comment on the number, and handled my enquiry very professionally and efficiently.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

This number worked first time to a real person with no waiting and no "Sorry we're busy call back later"
Why on earth does HMRC not even have a queueing system, it seems if they're busy - tough, call back later!
Just rung above number after trying the 3900 number since April to tell them about my increase in working hours. Answered very quickly, no waiting, very nice chap dealt with my enquiry and didn't mention overseas etc.

I LOVE THIS SITE!
Seriously, I've been trying to get through to update my circumstances and bank details for 3 weeks now. One call to the 0845 300 3600 number got methrough instantly and updated within a couple of minutes! So relieved to be able to draw a line under that debacle!0 -
The current guidance is that staff on the TC helpline will help you on the 1st instance of someone calling this number and tell you to use the 0845 number in future, the claim will be noted and staff DO NOT have to accept any future calls on the overseas line. You stand a much better chance of getting through on the 0845 number on a Saturday afternoon or Sunday. It's busy due to the renewal/terminations at the moment, in future try and renew earlier - even if you dont know your actual income, you can give estimates and you will get an extension until 31st Jan the following year to give TC your actual income0

Good Morning
I have been trying to contact tax credits for about a week to tell them of a change in circumstances in the family - new child.
I just cant get through. All the options say they are very busy. I have phoned dead on 8am everyday and its always the same no matter what time you phone!
Its only usually like this at renewal time!
Is anyone else having a problem?
Thanks
Paul0
