Tax Credits help line - Alternative number is ...

Just curious,after waiting over 7 weeks for Tax credits (working and child tax credits),I rang AGAIN yesterday and was on the phone 45 minutes to a nice lady who was trying her best she then told me (bear in mind I've been told numerous stories by now) that my claim is fine it's the working tax side (which is my partner),she has sent ANOTHER (this must be the 5th or 6th email) to head office. and told me to wait another 13 days. I am fuming!

I then googled the number and found they do infact have a number,could I ring them? or is it pointless? is there anyway I can talk to someone who CAN do something sooner? or am I wasting my time.

I know I keep going over the same question over question,but we are really struggling at the moment now.

Maybe if it gets too long write to complains dept, thats what I had to do after waiting 5 months for them to pay me
At least they got it sorted within a week or 2, or started to process my claim then anyway

Think I will write a letter of complaint I have my MP looking into the matter at the moment, but I doubt it will lead anywhere. It's highly frustrating,they keep saying there is no need for more info the claim is fine,so why the hold up? :mad:

Hi Paul - I've been having problems too, I'm at work all day so have to phone at peak times (cos i'm not going over my tax credits in front of my colleagues!) and it just tells me that they are really busy and goodbye! I've found in dealing with them for a couple of years its a case of persistance! Obviously some lucky people are getting through and clogging up the lines so we can't !

I've also found that sending them the info in a letter gets dealt with just as quickly ;0)

Myself and my wife have been trying for weeks at all times of the day. I searched the net earlier and found a number posted on mumsnet and it works, no automated system just a person! its 01355359007... Give it a go it saved us so much grief!

been tryin for days,and not been able to get through,but just tried the 0845 300 3600 no and got straight through thanks

0845 300 3600 works! just got through within one minute. Been trying for weeks!

I have spent 2 weeks trying to get through on the 3900 number and managed it in about 2 minutes on the 3600 number. Thank you so much for that.

Just tried the number got through, but he asked where i was calling from and then said I had to phone the other n umber as this line is for overseas only
