  • So angry about how rubbish their phone service has been lately. I had a change in childcare for the summer which co-incided with the renewal deadline (I'd renewed mine months ago as soon as I received the form so wasn't calling for the renewal) Had the same problems, mostly I would just get the we are busy message (which I still got charged for) Or the options, then the cutting off of the call. I made 75 calls in total which came to £20.

Had another change and have been trying before work this morning, on my lunch hour and for an hour when I got home. Tried pressing different options or no options at all but still couldn't get through. I'll have to resport to the abroad number soon if I can't get through because if they keep paying me an amount on the wrong figures guess who will have to pay pay the over paid tax credits!

So angry I wrote a letter to my MP - I would encourage everyone to do the same. If people don't take an issue with it with the powers that be things will go on as they are. I don't resent having to hold, what I do resent is being charged £20+ when I haven't even been able to get passed the options menu. I'm obviously also going to make a complaint to tax credits but does anyone know if they are unlawful in charging for not getting through and whether there's anyone you can complain to about that?

    Hi
I sent a recorded delivery and they never got it, nasty women on the line, sent all documents back plus the recorded delivery to a richard summersgill.

Lets see what he will say HMRC are trying to stitch people up if you never kept documents how can you PROVE.

    I kept every last letter.

    Thanks

I've been trying all day on and off also. It's mad that you just get cut off after going through all that waiting to begin with. Surely you should have the option of just hanging on and waiting? All I want to do is make sure they have my correct address.
  • the tax credits helpline....driving me NUTS! I've been trying to call them since 10am yesterday (i don't mean one call a day - i mean ringing back quite frequently). Its 9p a minute to this number isn't it?????:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

you'd think with all the unemployed they would employ some more advisers!!
  • After another frustrating round of calls listening to the recorded message and then being cut off, I've just got through straight away on the 0845 300 3600 number and sorted out my change of circumstances. The international number business wasn't even mentioned and the man on the other end of the phone was very helpful.
The problem isn't the staff on the phones - its the managers who have warped priorities. When I was trying to renew earlier in the year it was impossible to get through and I renewed by post. But the same day I posted the renewal, I had a very apologetic lady on the phone who was ringing because they'd noticed sometimes I used the title Mrs and sometimes Ms Was this an indication my circumstances had changed and I hadn't notified them? Not enough staff to answer the phones but they can ring about a missing R?

After a whole week of trying to phone tax credits, getting quite upset (worried about the phone bill as we are so poor at the mo) , i've just tried the 01355 359007 number and got through to a really nice man who sorted things out in under a minute. I tried the same number yesterday but got told off, so i'd advise to try again!

Although i agree with those who say its rude to jump the queue, i think its absolutely disgusting that its taking people the amount of time it has been to get through. Im skint, thats the reason i get tax credits, i havnt got the money to spend a whole week on the phone.
Also, as in my case, some people's tax credits might have been stopped, so not being able to get throught to sort things out is adding more time of having no money. My money being stopped was their fault, not mine, which makes not getting through even more angering.

i too have been trying for more than a week at a big expence to get thro. i read on here bout the 01355 number, have just tried it, got thro after 30 secs, spoke to a really nice guy told him id got num of a friend, he said you cant normally use this num but we're taking the overspill of calls as the other num is really busy ! he helped me and now im sorted. wish id have come on here sooner ! dont anyone feel guilty bout queue jumping cuz when you've been trying as long as we have , we deserve to 'jump the queue' !!
