I managed to get straight through on 01355 number,

I did too on the 01355 number but I dared ask any question I just wanted to sort out my query and left straight away my child tax credit was stopped and she reinstated it there and then so i shall check my bank hopefully it has been done. I had a very hard time with the 0845 number.
  • Thank you got through on the number above straight away. Problem is now weeks in and I'm nowhere nearer to finding out what is going on with our claim. I've now been told it can take another 3+ weeks as our claim is sat in head office as something was flagged up? (never said what) so question is now. Can I speak to head office? and hurry it up? or sit and wait? I am now at my wits end! :(

the 01355 number is a god send. I must have spent at least £20 in wasted phone calls over the past week to the 0845 number. Understandably they are busy, however, the call should not be connected, making you listen to the babble that doesnt help you, before cutting you off, if they can't connect you to an advisor.
The lady on the 01355 number was very helpful, and didn't question why I was calling that number. Don't listen to the posts that tell you not to call as the number is for service people abroad (no insult to service men/women), but frankly, most of us are desperately trying to get through because we need the money!!

I just got straight through on the 01355 number, didn't get questioned why I had rung it. The bloke was very helpful and the entire change of circumstances took 4 minutes as opposed to 4 days trying to get through on the 0845 number! Thanks!
  • i would happily accept a crisis loan, as iv stated because of eligibility we will have to wait for 14 days.

When you have a child that is disabled and has to be medicated 4 times a day and cannot leave the house its hard to sit in a social office at all.
So yeah ill take a crisis loan when it comes.... if it comes.
  • as for the callcentres, i think youv missed the point. basically what im saying is YES the numbers do go through to different offices but ALL offices have the same facilities and database.
  • Do people not realize that when they are using the priority lines they are in fact jumping the queue. Would you go to a supermarket see a big queue and push your way to the front. Obviously everybody on here would, thinking they are more important than everyone else.

Everytime some uses this number everyone else using the correct 0845 number gets pushed further and further down the queue.

It is for only use for overseas callers as overseas callers cannot dial 0845 numbers when abroad. No idea why it gets them to the front the queue though.

i also just got through in seconds by using the 01355 359007 number

i was not told off but she asked LOADS of security questions like youngest childs DOB etc, then got me to set up 2 passwords childhood hobby and mothers occupation?????? v odd!!

however once we got past that bit, she was very helpful and told me what i needed to know :D

People wonder why they get identify fraud against them. fraudsters used internet sites like this to find out information about people. Passwords are set up to protect your claim (Tax credits 2 random out of 16) you have told the whole world which two you will be asked. The questions asked are simple as everybody has to set it up and this is leading to online access to tax credits over next couple of years
  • After a whole week of trying to phone tax credits, getting quite upset (worried about the phone bill as we are so poor at the mo) , i've just tried the 01355 359007 number and got through to a really nice man who sorted things out in under a minute. I tried the same number yesterday but got told off, so i'd advise to try again!

Although i agree with those who say its rude to jump the queue, i think its absolutely disgusting that its taking people the amount of time it has been to get through. Im skint, thats the reason i get tax credits, i havnt got the money to spend a whole week on the phone.
Also, as in my case, some people's tax credits might have been stopped, so not being able to get throught to sort things out is adding more time of having no money. My money being stopped was their fault, not mine, which makes not getting through even more angering.
