If the Government were not so selfish in allowing its departments to keep people on hold for excessive amounts of time on "premium chargable" numbers, then this would not be an issue.
A geographic number, freephone number or even an 0370 (which a lot of the time are applicable to be included in mobile bundled minutes or as a geographic call) would quell the complaints. Like crikey, I am sure if our national radio networks can do it for their travel hotlines then the Government departments can do it too.......Signaller, author, father, carer.0 -

Or to put another slant on it, peole could stop claiming if it's such a hassle........thought not.
Or they could get up early and phone first thing where there is never an issue, or not leave their renewals until the wire, shocking I know:eek:0 -

I had my 2010-2011 tax credits allowance notice at the begining of last week, I checked my bank last Friday (the day they pay me) the amounts paid into my bank were considerably less than stated on the award notice, I've tried calling them on a regular basis since Friday at all times between 08 am and 8pm I either get all the usual go to www. for information on and then "sorry all our advisors are busy, you may wish to call back later" or I get that massage as soon as the call is picked up, does anyone actually work in the Tax Credits office? I can't believe they can be so busy on calls 12 hours a day that you are not even put in a queueI hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0

Have you tried calling 01355 359007? I got through on that number on Monday, had to wait on hold for about 10 minutes but as I called from my mobile it's free and I just stuck it on loudspeaker and got on with the washing up0

Cheers, got straight through, funny that, isn't it, on the 0845 you get umpteen dozen menus and lots of irrelevent information before actually being put through to your chosen option, then more irrelevent chat and then get told to ring back later, yet dial the number you gave and you get no menus, no irrelevent information and you get through to a human.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0 -

Awwww had some hope there! Got through straight away and was told to call the main number as this was for overseas calls only. Only been trying for a fortnight, will attempt a letter to the complaints department and keep on trying0
