I am so shocked that people STILL leave it to the last day, or in some cases over!! My word!!

Haven't posted on here for about a year!

Just to say, they are honouring the extended deadline, I've been on the phone for days, god knows how much it's cost me, the 2 minute 39 second delay before you get cut off is atrocious.
Anyway, finally got through just now, they've renewed it, the phone call was roughly 2 minutes long just to confirm details.
Thank God for that, but don't leave it any longer, she didn't say when the extended deadline was until but it can't be that long, and I'll be surprised if it lasts until the end of the week.
Oh, and by the way, I didn't leave it until the last day to phone, it was a few days before. Yes I should have done it earlier, but you don't expect the lines to be jammed days before the deadline.
Fr. Stack: While you were out, I got the keys to your car. And drove it into a big wall. And if you don't like it, tough. I've had my fun, and that's all that matters.
  • I have been trying to call several times in the previous two weeks, but finally got through this morning. Was on hold for 20mins, therefore late for work. But as said they honoured the extended deadline and I got to renew, though he did put me on hold again to go check something.
  • I have spent the past 2 days trying to contact tax credits on the helpline number. This has been a frustrating waste of time and money.
However, i just accidentally mis-dialed the number and was amazed to have my call answered and dealt with immediately!! at the end of the call i was told i had come through on the 'International Helpline' - this is for people claiming from 'overseas' and - wait for it - this has PRIORITY over the normal number for UK callers!!
    The number is 0845 300 36 00
Good luck - it worked for me!:j

I wish I had seen this earlier - just spent nearly an hour on hold!
  • I tried the number that Joanne d left 01355359007 after trying for hours to get through on the 0845 number. I got through straight away, not on hold at all, and all sorted! I would just say keep trying all the numbers on here till you get through! Thanks Joanne d!

There was another number published on here as well which was a national call - so free to call if you have free calls to 01/02 numbers. It is for the international callers, and I expect is given priority as the probable majority of claimants who would be qualified to apply but being overseas might be servicemen/women. Not a big thing to give them considering what they are out there doing every day!

You do know why people overseas get priority don't you? As the people claiming from overseas tend to be crown servants so are all but in name working in the UK.

So when they have to use their allocation of getting through to the UK as and when they can on sorting out crap like this they don't speak to their family. Also chances are if they even need to get through to anyone their minutes run out before they even get through. Hence the special line.

But don't let that stop selfish people blocking the lines.
