Finally about 6 calls later and a complaint letter (and loads of arguments) .
The advisor even offered me to unlock the phone for £15 - however
after calling them the next day to find out how long the unlocking code is going to take- they explained that *THREE* do NOT provide unlocking codes for NOKIA  . hmmmmmmmmmmm
Advised me to go back to the dealer who will unlock - (CPW)
Phoned CPW who advised only THREE can do this only.
Called THREE again and they told me they don’t have the codes and cannot help!
how am I supposed to get the code - as far as am aware of from the unlocking forum on MSE :money: the only place that can provide me the code is the network provider however they say they don’t provide codes for nokia
Anyone successfully unlocked a nokia 6630/6680 via three OR knows any way round this situation?ANY HELP MUCH APPRECIATED!
When i cancelled i asked for the Unlock code. And was quoted £215 (I did re-ask cause i thought i had miss heard her say £215 !!!!!!!!!!!!!! but i did not), but the women had to ask her manager, if it was possible.
I think i will ring just before my contract ends and try again.0 -

The netowrk operators are the only ones who can unlock the 6630/6680. Its been discussed on this forum here and here . You could just wait, it won't be long before the big players get hold of the codes.0 -
Has anyone got a standard letter to send to "3", asking for the contract to be cancelled due to the price hike? It will just save me the hassle of typing one out.

Dear Sir / Madam
Further to your letter dated the 17th October regarding price increases on my account – I note that this is above the ‘Retail Price Index’ and as per your terms and conditions – Sections 4.1 section B (iii) and 10 part D, I am giving the required one months notice to cancel my contract.
I have also sent a letter by Royal Mail ‘Signed For’ postage to back up this request as I have found problems communicating with you in the past.
Your Faithfully

Dear Sir or Madam,
Further to your letter dated 17th October 2005. You identify changes to your call charges that will take effect from 17th November 2005.
Under section 10.1 (d) of your terms of conditions it states that I may end this agreement if any variations are of detriment to me. Given that some of the price changes are an increase of 100% this will certainly be of detriment to me.
Please accept this letter as written notification that I am cancelling this agreement. I would also like my PAC code at your earliest convenience.
If there are any queries please do not hesitate to contact me.
Yours Sincerely,0 -
Thanks guys. I have just got back from a booze fuelled week in Riga and can't face ringing them up.0

It does say in their terms and conditions that they require written confirmation to cancel. But from what I've read earlier this thread people have cancelled over the phone.
Also make sure you send it recorded delivery.0 -
Given the risks to the cashback arrangements, confusion about unlocking, questions about whether 3 will accept new contracts from people cancelling, and general ambiguities still unresolved in the above discussion, and on top of the fact that I have never reached 500 minutes use, I shall not be cancelling. Thank you all for convincing me.
ps - on a couple of other contracts, I've found that it is often standard for companies to ask for the remaining line rental in advance (to compensate for the handset subsidy), when unlocking. It might have been better to ask them about this before, not after cancellation.0 -

I wrote them a letter and they rang me to tell me I could cancel. They said that they would get the cancellations dept to call me back, but when they called me back, I answered and they just stayed silent on the line for 30 seconds before hanging up. Not heard from them since!
