  • Just wanted to warn people of my appalling experience with FurnitureDeal.
I placed an order for some bedroom furniture in March. I was advised there would be a 2 week delay once the money had cleared. After several chase up e mails (many of which were ignored), I was advised there would be a further delay. Furnituredeal blamed the delay on the suppliers. I contacted the suppliers direct only to find out they had ceased trading with Furnituredeal. I immediately requested a refund and have been continually fobbed off with an unrealistic date in June. Furnituredeal have ignored my requests to explain why the refund has not been processed in accordance with the Direct Selling Regulations. Fortunately, my credit card company have stepped in and refunded the money to my account. My advice is to steer well clear of Furnituredeal. They are dishonest.

How I wish I had spotted this before placing an order!...
My worst experience of Internet shopping ever by a huge margin. Appear to be 'good value for money' when you look at their prices but realistically..
    1) Payment taken on order not shipment
    2) 'expected shipment date' on web site is a myth
    3) continually receive revised delivery dates - which are never achieved
    4) trying to get a refund is exactly the same... dates are promised then changed or missed.

In summary... appalling. Don't waste your time or money, the stress really is not worth the (non-) saving!!

    Try these guys instead.

    http://www.oakfurnitureland.co.uk/

    It all arrived as described.

About a month after delivery we had a problem with excessive shrinking of our dining room table. Called customer services, explained the problem had a couple of phone calls and a week later we had a replacement without fuss or hassle and they removed the faulty one at the same time. New table absolutely fine.

Highly recommend oakfurntireland for this type of purchase and if things don't go quite to plan, customer services do actually help and resolve the problem.

I'm annoyed with myself for not checking here first. I'm also having problems them.

Order placed on 4th July with 14 day lead time, 2 days after that contacted them and was told they had a problem with their suppliers and stock and should expect delivery by the end on the month. Still, nothing. Another week later and had to chase them up again and am now told it could be a further 2 weeks.

Rather sneakily though I did some research and found the manufacturers/suppliers of the bed I ordered and contacted them directly. Although, quite rightly, they wouldn't divulge any information regarding their distributor. I did manage to fish out of them that if I perhaps ordered the same item with one of their other distributors, that they had stock available for direct shipping within 24 hours. Read into that what you will...

Just added complete credence to my scepticism about what FunitureDeal were telling me. I have now cancelled my order and demanded a full refund. I believe, due to distance selling reg they can take upto 30 days which is a bit rubbish, but at least I'll still have Barclaycard to fall back on if they fail to do that either.

Moral of the story, check on MoneysavingExpert first and use a credit card if possible. One out of two aint bad I suppose :-)

This company is a joke! Ordered a bed and it took over a month to deliver, then once received, it was damaged. It took several e-mails over the course of 2 weeks to get any kind of response, their telephone number is often engaged and once you get through, customer service reps could not be less helpful. Was told i was using the wrong e-mail address, which i wasn't. Tried the online chat which finally got me somewhere. Took a further 3 weeks to get it collected (which was not entirely satisfactory as the guys collecting it were clearly just a couple of guys in a van which made me quite uncomfortable) had to ask for a receipt which they couldn't produce. Made them sign a piece of paper with their names on it which was all i could think of to do. E-mailed the accounts department and customer services the following monday asking them to confirm they were in receipt of the bed. Accounts responded with a refund will be processed in the next 14 working days and i would be notified by e-mail. Well, the 14 days are now up and i have not heard a word! Sent another e-mail last Friday and again today but still heard nothing even though i have threatened to make a formal complaint if i hear nothing by the end of today. Incredibly tedious and ridiculous to have to go through all this to get your money back. It has been poor service all the way through and i would be interested to hear if anyone here has got their money back and what they had to do in order to get it.

Just to keep you updated, I managed to get them to give me written email confirmation of my refund request. I really wasn't keen on digging myself in deeper with them and (eventually) actually having something I might need to return.

Still, sounds like they'll be playing the 30 day game with the credit card refund, despite them promising to do it sooner if they can. Somehow, me thinks i'll be making a call to Barclaycard in 27 days :-/

    [sigh]
  • I am also really annoyed with myself for not checking here first. I spent over £300 on a bed and two bedside cabinets in June 2009 and once they had my money... that was it. They didn't even bother to contact me I had to keep chasing them and all they could say was "Yes Ma'am we totally understand Ma'am and we are very sorry but your items have been delayed".
Every time I called or emailed it was one excuse after another. I have also emailed them loads of time to ask for my money back and the reply is 'we will deal with your request within 24 hours'. Check this out it has now been 5 weeks.
I have contacted trading standards too and they have advised me to send the company a written letter requesting for the refund. They also said make sure I get proof of postage. I am so disappointed.
I hope you all complain to trading standards and maybe we should take it to Watchdog! if more of us do that, the better chances we have in getting somewhere. Good Luck all
  • My exact story!!!

Well, i'm 5 days from the end of the statutory 30 days they get to issue my refund after confirming it to me in writing. Still not holding my breath...

Barclaycard complaints/fraud number ready on speed dial!

I sincerely hope FDUK are following this thread. In fact, I might just email it to them.
  • June 16 ordered an item. After 8 weeks I had to contact them to find out what was happening. 'A delay from supplier, now delivery beginning of September'. There is only one phone number shown on their web site and I was told they only deal with sales - for customer services I have to send an email. Didn't get any replies from many emails but at the end of August I get a phone call. The item is with them and delivery will be the following Tuesday. A whole day at home - no delivery. Their web site now constantly indicates they have phone problems and their 'online chat' is not available. Wednesday = the same. Thursday to mid afternoon = the same. I have contacted my credit card company after finding this thread and will get forms sent to apply for a full refund for undelivered goods. Thank goodness for credit card protection.
