I've heard that adults are less likely to get infected because they use hair styling products and hairdriers, which lice don't like. My hair is entirely au naturel, which might be why I got them.
My son's lice cleared up easily, one dose of shampoo and a very short cut sorted him out.
However, I've got thick knee length hair and it's become a nightmare. I can't comb my hair at all, ever, and fine tooth nitcombs are impossible because they just get stuck after dragging them about a couple of inches. I've tried mayonnaise, tea tree etc but they just turn my hair into a matted mess.
Time to buy Robocomb and nuke the little beggars >:(0 -
When my son first started Primary school within weeks he came home with nits.
As he has asthma I did not wish to use the more common treatments as there had been some bad press about them.
I used the conditioner and comb method and removed them that way.
I read on a web site that nits do not like the smell of coconut or tea tree oil so I have always used shampoo containing one of these.
Before they left for school I always sprayed them with leave on tea tree conditioner. Regular weekly checking of the hair was a must and being boys their hair was always cut very short.
Using this method they have never caught nits and at time it is rampant at the school, again because parents do not check or treat their childrens hair. ???
This method apart from being healthier for the child is also money saving but it is a little more time consuming.0
