NITS

I hate nits!!!! What a fun sunday i have had :(

I always check little miss divadee's hair regularly and had done so on thursday, go and check this morning and she is crawling in them. So a dash to the chemist (not good on sunday morning) and buy the lotion my house now stinks (thank goodness for my freebie glade circulair!) my daughter is moaning that the stuff itches and a fed up me.

The thing that bugs me, is that when the school sends letters home about head lice i always check her hair but some parents obviously dont, or they wouldnt be so rife would they?

I think I need to start a campaign to bring the nit nurse back they wern't as rife when i was at school at i am sure the nit nurse had a lot to do with this.

BRING BACK NITTY NORA ;)

My kids school has them all the time. At one stage doctors were advising to use conditioner (and a nit comb) as the potions to get rid of them constantly have to change as the lice adapt to it. We use conditioner/comb every wash (cheap supermarket own brands) and that keeps them at bay. At least we don't have the situation like when my daughter said her head wasn't itchy but when I insisted on using the comb we counted 250 before stopping counting!!!! ::) It's cheaper to use conditioner than those expensive potions (as you probably would use it anyway). Kids need to be told how trendy a shaved head is (including girls especially) - that helps!! Also my son puts so much wax and gel on his hair that nothing would survive there!!! :D

    OMG FRAN 250!!

I thought 20 was bad in her hair today but 250 i think i would of passed out :'(

I do use conditioner/comb treatment, but obviously not worked this time. The chemicals should kill them off good and proper they did last time.

Luckily she has only had them twice once when she was 3 and now shes 6.

Going to spray some more air freshner now ;D

This is a hideous problem! I agree with Divadee, unless every parent checks and deals with the problem it just keeps on coming.

We escaped it right through infant and junior school, only to have a headful at age 14! What a trauma that was! The 'stuff' from the chemists that was recommended at the time (they rotate the product because of the immune thing) was no use at all.

Only thing that worked was coating her hair with olive oil and thorough combing for 10 days before I was convinced we'd won.

I agree - bring back Nitty Nora (though I've never heard her called that ;D

Should not be costing you anything its on precription from the quack and no one under 16 pays for prescriptions.

On the erradication the only way to do so would be for all children and adults and animals etc etc etc to be done at the same time. They are a natural part of life we have taken a dislike too and call them Dirty.
I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.

    "BRING BACK NITTY NORA "

I have fond memories of nitty nora during my school days ::)..................not >:(

My mother insisted all us four girls couldn't have our hair cut.....only trimmed :-/

Consequently we all had flowing locks ::)
Nitty Nora..........the nit nurse did not appreciate this, made her job harder she said....................we always got a extra hard tug on the hair >:(....I think the woman was a sadist ;D

Anyhow, we have to use the nit - comb and conditioner method with my grandson , as he suffers from excema...he has a terrible time using the lotion,so we try to avoid it and the only way is to do his hair daily :-/

He hates it but it could be worse..at least being a boy he looks fine with his hair very, very short ;D

It makes my blood boil that some parents don't sort it out when they are aware..........................it probably will never go away as long as kids interact but it can be kept more under control ::)
What is the point in every parent doing it but one :-/

Bring back Nitty Nora ;D ;D

    .
Unfortunately some doctors will not write perscriptions for the whole family..............and unless all are done.............they come back ;D

They don't live on animals ::) to eradicate them anybody with them must be treated and never make head/hair contact with anyone who has headlice ::).........but that will never happen, especially with children

Or set Nitty Nora on them ;D

There is a huge problem with split families too. My kids stay with their father and though he deals with it his end he doesn't tell me and there's no way on earth that he would conform to me asking him to do it at the same time when I do it!! >:(

    some interesting facts....

    nits only like clean hair......

back in the 40's they just shaved all your hair off.... it was very effectiive

dont waste money on lotions/potions/concoctions.... just use liberal amounts of conditioner and a fine toothed comb.

nits are not common in senior school children.......!

i have 3 daughters and as each of them has progressed through school, they appear to stop getting them once they reach year 5 (9-10 years), this doesnt stop us checking their hair if, the lovable youngest becomes infested.... as she does every 2 months.....

when i was at school, all the potions/lotions smelled like cats pee....! blooming awful
smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to.... ;)
