i've had this problem a few times over the years with my daughter, i use the conditioner and fine tooth comb method of getting rid of them .
the best thing her primary school ever did when she was there , was to have a BUG BUSTING MONTH. Each child was given a chart which you wrote on to say the hair had been washed conditioned checked etc for a month(scuse me itching here ;D) and this seemed to erradicate them from the whole school for a few months might be a good suggestion to put towards your schools

The time I had them when pregnant with my son we were living with my mum, and I even had to share a bed with her a couple of times when we had guests. She didn't ever get them. She did used to get them when I was little though. We thought it was perhaps the hormones (she was post menapausal (sp?) by then). Even my partner's nits left a few months before mine did- and we did cuddle...

'hormone theory' wouldn't explain why kids stop getting them at secondary school... Those kids are full of hormones!

I agree, the amount of times me and the kids had headlice and Mr Judi never had them even though he slept with me.

We do occasionally get the Nit Letter home from secondary school, but not nearly as often as we used to at primary school.

And this theory that they don't live long off the head - someone kept one in a test-tube for over a week and it was still alive...

i have just had this problem with my daughter, posterd on another board and was forwarded here. we have the worst nightmare of a mum in our school, her theory is they are all gods creatures, and they will leave her daughter when they are good and ready. poor child scratches all the time, and it makes me want to scream. the tips onhere are great, i will be trying a few.

    thanks,160

this is classed as child abuse or was a few years ago,  lice left alone will eventually chew through the scalp and cause infections making the child ill,.

if it were me, id keep my kids home and force the school to do something about the silly cow.
Id also get onto social services about it. poor kid.
