All very timely! The dash on my wifes renault started playing up on monday, clocks resetting etc,by yesterday it had gone completely and she rang renault after reading about the fault on various websites including this one. Yesterday she was told it was going to be £500all inc, today i rang them and its gone down to £100,well done all who have complained about it and thanks! I do agree it should be free but £100 is managable for most people!0

A hundred quid is a hundred quid. Who here is going to buy another Renault after being forced to pay a £100 towards a Renault created manufacturing fault? Who is to say it won't go again and you get charged another £100?0

whos to say the sun wont fall from the sky?
cars break, ok it might not be a part you would expect to break but when you bought your renault did they mention anywhere it would last forever?
£100 from a manufacturer to repair any kind of fault outwith (and some being well outwith) any kind of warranty is a grand gesture i think.
anything built to a budget will have flaws, your renault, like most run of the mill cars are all bulit to tight budgets to keep purchase prices down for buyers.
what does it matter if the inherant fault on your car is a dashboard going out or a light cluster failing?
and for the folk who think the dashboard going out posses a serious threat to thiers or thier childrens lives :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
if it was such a serious issue why not get the car fixed as soon as possible and then sell it? dont make renault responsible for your children....work permit granted!0 -
Hi everyone, I have recently registered on the forum because I own a problematic Scenic on a 54 plate. I have recently had the dash problem and this morning I have hopefully (fingers crossed) cured it. My problem was that the clock would reset to zero and the trip would reset when starting up, the fuel gauge showed the flashing red light, a tyre pressure fault showed and the display numbers were dim this started about 3 days ago.
I first remove the plastic surround, top bit pulls down, bottom bit pulls forward. I then went to remove the left plastic plug. When I moved the plug the display brightened. I switched on the engine and clock stayed at the correct time and the trip didn't zero itself and the speedo display is now clearer.
This may be the cause of the fault and if not rectified could cause damage to the dash components I may have caught mine before any damage has been done. Its worth trying as it only took me 15 minutes.
I have driven the car since doing this and started it 8 times with no problems, I have left off the surround for the time being just in case.
Best of luck to everyone who has this problem because Renault are less than helpful

Hi Dave, After viewing Watchdog on Thursday night, I contacted Renault and they agreed to pay all the cost bar £100, which I think is not ideal, but a lot better than the £500+ I paid in July 2008 to have it repaired. Get back onto Renault again and have a proper fix done, I think it may be worth it in the long run, as it is obviously a fault on the instrument panel which was made during the manufacture.0

Hi, I am in the same boat as many of you here..
Last summer I had my dashboard replaced by a Renault specialist at a cost of £500, I have been in contact with Renault and they are wanting to see proof of a receipt and proof of ownership of the vehicle and then they said they will see if they can arrange a refund of the difference so in my case £400...
I am also about to contact Renault about another issue I also have with my Megane Scenic 54 plate.. That is that all of a sudden my card stopped working and I could not use it anymore rendering the vehicle useless as it wont start.. It is apparently another common fault with this very poor car..
Anybody else have the card trouble??
Thanks

Hi Twedd, I did not have to provide proof of receipt or ownership when I contacted Renault, however I did have the repair done at a Renault garage, and when I rang Renault customer services, they were then able to tell me how much I paid, as they had the details, presumably from the renault Garage.
With reference to the Renault card, it may be a silly question, but have you changed the battery in it?0 -

Much better than paying Renault price.
Don't know whether your Scenic card is similar, but it might be worth getting in touch with them.0 -
Dear Golden Spanners,
I just wanted to thank you for lurking around this thread, passing moral judgement and rolling around laughing at other people's difficulties. Perhaps you would have a different view if you had experienced these difficulties yourself.0
