  • After being moderately happy with my grand scenic for the last 3 and a half years, I am never going to buy a renault again because of their attitude to customer service. I spent half an hour yesterday and another half an hour today arguing the case with Frances in Renault UK but they refused to cover the whole cost. I could understand if it was wear and tear but they admitted it was a manufacturing fault. Any company interested in keeping their reputation would not be alienating customers with this £100 charge. It was bad enough when the display went .., not what you want to happen with 2 kids in the back as I didn't know if lights, breaks, or power steering was about to go kaput. I think the company must be in financial difficulty.

I am in the queue on the phone now and have been for about 15 minutes, hopefully they will have sufficient customer support advisors to cope with the calls tonight, otherwise I will be on to them tomorrow morning first thing. Glad it is a free phone number, so they do have some consideration, but I also think they should pay for the lot, not just the excess of £100, my replacement cost 533.16 in July 2008.

Well done everybody for keep getting on to Renault about this and a great big thank you to Watchdog too.

As a previous owner of renault and citroen cars, I have never been very impressed with french manufacturers after sales service.

When my mazda mx5 developed small amounts of rust around the alloy wheel centres,on a couple of wheels, Mazda replaced all the wheels, retail about 1k.
within a couple of weeks,it cost me nothing.

I did not even buy the car from a mazda dealer,it came from an independant garage second hand.

Got a result, cheque in the post for £433.16 being the excess over £100. I should get the cheque in the next 7 to 10 working days. Thanks everybody for getting this much appreciated money back for me

To be honest I'm fairly happy with the £100, it's certainly a lot better than £500+. I haven't had a problem yet, but as I drive on 05 have always been a bit worried that there could be a £500 pound bill around the next corner.

Whilst I do think that they should be paying the whole lot £100 isn't a lot in the grand scheme of owning a car.
