Glad you got sorted, I found that it went within a couple of days from dimming and resetting.0

And I just thought our 54 Scenic was a total lemon but it seems like this entire production run was built by Renault YTS staff on their first day at work!
We bought ours in March 2008, 2nd hand with 16k on the clock and I swear the garage has had it more often than us in the past 20 months! Thank goodness I decided to fork out for a 2 year warranty; under warranty we have had over £4,000 of work done including a new gearbox, all the electric window mechanisms replaced and umpteen other problems. OUTSIDE of warranty we have paid over £2000 for problems outside of normal wear and tear!!!
And of course, our dashboard has just died so this morning's visit to Renault revealed another £100 to pay for another Renault fault. It IS of course better than £500 but when you are out of work £100 is a hell of a lot of money.
The trouble is, if we sell it what can we get that for the same money (I guess around £2,500) and who can say that there won't be similar problems!
Cars eh?"It is far better I say nothing and let people think I am an idiot than to open my mouth and confirm it beyond any doubt."0 -
I also had problems with the window mechanisms, first one cost over £300, then when the second one went they paid 75% of the costs, the 3rd one cost me £15 and they told me that if the final one went to contact them directly to get it fixed. I would get onto to them as there is obviously a fault with the mechanism with them paying the majority of the final part.0

i just put my 54 plate renault scenic 1.9dci into a local garage to have the reo stat replaced (heater blowers no9t working) in order to do this the whole dash had to be removed it took him 2 1/2 days. now 2 days later my dash display has gone off would anyone know if this would be the garages fault as they may not have reconnected something properley. or coincidece and this fault that everyone here is talking about, cheers.0

Firstly, how many miles have you done, and secondly did you take it to a Renault dealer to have it fixed?0

My sister has had the exact same problem on her Renault Scenic, but now all the displays are in french and the speedo is in km - is there a way to covert it to english and miles - she has lost her handbook0

Have just had a similar problem as many others with my dash display. Was driving along quite happily when the whole thing went out. Some kind of alarm was beeping but of course I couldn't see what it was. Called out Green Flag who said it needed to go to garage and that it would probably be costly.
After browsing the net I found this thread which I think has saved me some money. Phoned our local Renault garage and they are replacing the display unit tomorrow for a cost of £100. The lady on the phone seemed to be quite familiar with this problem.0 -
Hi Treen, Glad you got it sorted.0

Another here on an 04 Scenic. Similar to many others in that the clock started resetting a few days ago, followed by intermittent cutting in and out of whole display accompanied by a bleep, and today my whole display has failed...HOWEVER my indicators, stalk radio controls, door locks have also failed, my windscreen wipers have a mind of their own along with windows on the drivers side which are choosing to lower themselves whenever they damn well please, parked or driving! And that's just the stuff I'm aware of.
Pleased to not have to argue about the dash replacement but very concerned they are going to shrug off the rest of the issues and attempt to charge the earth!
In the 18 months I have owned the car I have had all four coil packs fail.
Best of all has been the windscreen: A little after a week of owning it I took the car through a car wash and water started pouring in onto the steering wheel - so much that my daughter and I used our shoes to catch it as it poured in!. I called the dealer who agreed to have it resealed and sent national windscreens out to remove and then refit it. On removing it the guys were in hysterics taking pictures on their phones. They said in four years in the job they had never seen one so badly fitted. There was only glue on approx one third of the edges. How anyone had lived with it before I'll never know!
I won't be buying another Renault and have advised others not to even consider it!0 -
I also have had problems with windows dropping down when I haven't touched the button. The big problem is that they stayed down, which meant I had to drive to the dealer to get it fixed. 3 of them have had this problem over a period of time, and after the 2nd one went I got the garage to contact Renault and they agreed to pay towards the costs, then the 3rd one went and they agreed to pay 85% of the costs and have told me that if the 4th one goes to contact them direct and they will pay for it. Fingers crossed it is still intact at the moment. I would contact Renault and tell them about all of your problems0
