Women!! For gods sake please tell your daughters about tampax too!! I still sort of resent my mum for not bothering and I was too embarassed/young to do anything about it myself of course.
The best ones to start with, I found, are the minis with the plastic applicators as they are smoothest (or 'Compak lites' as they are now known).
Don't make your daughters resent you, swallow your own embarassment and fear and educate them!Kavanne

Lol no!
I just meant it only goes on every few days in our house so sour milk... some horiffic combination of food remnants and sauces my OH has left on a plate... cheese (I am allergic) congealed fats etc ... yuck!
I wouldn't put any of these near my mouth - and while I wouldn't particularly want to drink blood either, I have sucked my finger when I had a paper cut before!
I don't believe and I never did that two wrongs make a right0 -
Ohhh yes, it was BRIGHT pink, too!!!Flashdaisy wrote: »LOL, do any of your thirtysomething ladies remember the Tampax coupons that used to be in magazines, which you would send off and get a box of tampax and a pink plastic tampon holder in return? The pink holder was meant to be discreet but with every girl at school having one it was kind of obvious you had your period when you went off to the loo holding it:rolleyes:
To the OP - if you're happy in principle with your DD using tampons, it is IMHO worthwhile encouraging her to try them from the start. I tried tampons midway through my first period, and though it took several months to really get used to them, it was worth it. I am still not exclusively a tampon user (partly because my periods have always been very unpredictable and there are times only a towel + tampon will do, and partly because - well, TMI, sorry - I get horrendous wind at the beginning of my period, and tampons seem to make it worse!) but I think if I didn't use tampons at all, I'd almost feel disabled during my period.
Do give her applicator tampons. I have been known to use non-applicator ones when cadging one off a friend in an emergency, but I've never got on with them.
ailuro - OMG, Vespre Silhouettes! Were they the ones that Claire Rayner used to advertise? My mum used to think those ads were hilarious, cos she used to keep going on about putting them in your "panties" and nobody's used the word "panties" for about 50 years...
