TBH we get whats on offer - always/bodyform/superdrug's own. We get the folded pre-wrapped ones which fit discreetly into the school bag with some nappy bags for disposal.

Like a poster above i use the long ones with wings to avoid any accidents or embarassment but a smaller child might find the normal ones 'long' anyway.

    Good luck!!

I buy Asda's own brand "Freestyle" for my 3 DD's (11, 14 & 16) as they have all found them to be as good as Always, but half the price..... I did get them Bodyform with a little tin each, just in case they wanted one :) I also suggested they have a make-up bag or similar in which they put a couple of spare towels, a couple of nappy disposal bags, and a few baby wipes. Seems to work well for them.

The huge difference I notice though between them & me when I was at school dealing with it is how open they are, and happy to chat about it with their mates. Which is good, but I can't imagine ever having been able to do that!!!!

One word of warning - Apparantly the little fancy tins on the market are a 'no, no' and a complete embarassment particularly in school circles where if seen are a source of ridicule, heaven knows why!!

MY DS1 has recetly started and she likes these tins and when the towels with them are on offer i have been asked to buy them, all her friends think they are great... funny how things differ

Hi, a small make up bag is good, i used to do this and keep a couple of towels, spare knickers, pack of tissues in etc.

I personally got on well with always towels, bodyform always used to seem to big and bulky at the time for me (still not keen on them now either to be honest). But asda's own freestyle ones seem good too but a lot cheaper.

I remember my mom brought me several packs of different absorbancies/styles to try, so i could put a lighter pad in and a heavier pad in just in case. Takes a while to get used to periods, especially if they dont settle down too quickly.

    Good luck, x x

We dont have an Asda near us, so they're out but I'll have a look at the other makes mentioned.

Squiggly...I know what you mean, lol. My best friend and I had both started but neither told the other one for about a year. Mind you things were different 'back then'. :o :rotfl:

oh, in that case try superdrugs/boots own make, just as good too.

I told my friend, who then admitted she'd started several months earlier but was too embarassed to talk about it!

Its great that we can all be more open these days, instead of feeling embarassed and bottling up worries and not asking questions.

    oohhh I want a tin too:j I don't care if it's not cool.:p

I use always too long ones, with wings. I remember hating the feeling of bulky pads when I was a teenager. I always thought they felt like a nappy would.

I'd also say make sure you always have a supply in. I was buying my own out of my pocket money then my mum found out and told me she didn't expect me to do this, but she did expect me to write when I needed them on the shopping list, which I was far too :o to do. Couldn't nick hers cos she used tampax which I didn't try till I was older.

BTW- anyone pm'd sali-mali's mum to tell her what she's put? :rotfl:
