    I've been Money Tipped!
    :hello: Good morning!

Happy Birthday to Master fizzel and Sammy kaye :bdaycake:

Puppy will have to wait awhile for her walk as I have drs appt soon to check bp. Hope the rain holds off or she won't get her walk later either! Unthinkable with her energy levels! Mind you at the moment you wouldn't believe it as she is draped across my legs fast asleep and very cuddly!

I am taking dd for a scan this afternoon to find out what the lump on her neck is so fingers crossed it's something easy to deal with, she has had rather a lot of health worries this year. You really do never stop worrying about them.
It will be a 45 min drive into the country so I have borrowed oh's sat nav for the first time, should be interesting.

Lunch will be arkonites potato soup made with sweet potatoes, yummy!
dinner will be Kedgaree - special request from Mr Catz

(((hugs))) to Beth, smoky, jayward, PP, Mrs Mix, Ivyleaf and oh, Hester, jayward, candygirl, Crisca and kathys Mum

    Have a lovely day

Workwise, I've said I'll stay here until the end of this month but I'm getting "emotionally blackmail" to make me stay longer. They've even asked me if I'll come back for the last fortnight in August when it's a bit short-staffed  The fact that I'm leaving anyway should be enough to say that I don't want to be here so why would I want to spend the better part of £150 in diesel to come back  Ho-hum  The sooner I'm back up in God's country getting on with the rest of my life with my sweet Whistling Gypsy, the better it will be :j :j :j

Hi Martin going to be a bit controversial here - what's new you will all say:o .

You are staying to the end of July, and they would like you to stay to the end of August, but you have no contractual commitment to do so, but it is the busiest time of the year. Ask yourself these questions, I cannot answer them:

1 - Have they been a good a supportive employer?
2 - Did they help/support you when things went pear shaped?
3 - If life hadn't gone pear shaped would you still be happy working for them?
4 - Would it be the end of the world to stay to the end of August, and spoil the start of your new life?
5 - Would it put some coffers in the back pocket to help the new life?

You like me and Charlies_Mum know that August is the month when camping/caravanning is at it's height, especially the August Bank Holiday week. I don't want to add to their "emotional blackmail" i.e. desperation pleading as I am sure someone with your knowledge and experience are not sitting outside the door pleading for a job:rolleyes: All I am saying is that they do need you, and you know it. Maybe "your Julie" could spend some holidays with you in that period so you do see her? Although you are ready to leave Dorset and come back "up norf" it is a lovely part of the world (though maybe better without the tourists). Job prospects in August when all the factories are closed down for at least 2 if not 3 weeks are slimmer than normal. Just think it through. Maybe they could come up with a small bonus for staying?

    :bdaycake: Sammy and little Fizzel

    Congrats Beth

    (((hugs))) to All

Stef - Tell ExOH if he wants to stay any more it's £50 a night. It will let you go out and get away if nothing else. He don't like parting does he!;)

Heck - so many olf you snook in while I was M-ing.

Pen-Pin - glad you had a good night with the girls, even DS23 went to Mama Mia with his Gf and said he enjoyed it, though he was reared on 60's/70's music - Rule was Radio 2 until 7.30 am then he could have Radio 1. Congrats to your DD. Agree with thoughts on family, but no I don't think we are the weird ones.

I agree with Elona below Hester - bend the new Head's ear - when folk start panicing over what they do, they are worried that they are not doing it right, usually with good reason. Maybe you could offer him some efficiency suggestions?

Please get the rain over in Yorkshire I intend to pack the sun in the boot next week.

DH washing down patios as the thunderstorm last night was "Dirty Rain" that is rain full of red sand picked up in the Sahara and dumped on us!

    Take care - DG

    Happy Birthday Sammy kaye :bdaycake:

There is a thread on the forum called low carb diets which includes a modified Atkins. I found Atkins itself too strict but this one allows you some fruit, milk, yoghurt and veg as well as fish, cheese, meat and eggs.

I started yesterday and have decided not to weigh myself but just see if my clothes start getting loose.

    Hester

I would write to the new head saying how pleased you are for the chance to get things properly organised and run more efficiently.

Then mention that without a chair you have to do computer work kneeling on the floor which is not very efficient. Etc. etc!

If you cannot get the "outlaws " to be sensible then maybe pull up a chair , watch the show and eat popcorn;)

Postman delivered a parcel at 8 this morning , new GHD salon straighteners for DD(22). I go to see her in Manchester tomorrow and will give them to her then. Also want to give her moral support (and lunch) before her job interview.

Might try to get an hour's doze later - the alarm goes off at 6.30 every day and while DH either has an hour to nap later in the day - or snores on the sofa - I never do!

Will make a dozen bread rolls later for tomorrow as I will be away. Washing machine is churning away but not good weather for drying clothes.

Hugs to everyone - especially betheebee, Smokey, Jayward, Chrisca, Mrs mix., Hester, Penny pincher and anyone else my sleep deprived brain has mised out.

    Morning All!

Haven't been on for a while, been soooo busy! Have my Dad staying at the moment. He had a hernia op just over a week ago. He got it when Mamma was ill, but he never told her, so she wouldn't worry. after she passed away, I made him go and get something sorted, and now it has been. Good job I;ve got my stair lift in!:rotfl:

DD is still getting over her broken ankle. No boot now, but she isn't back at work yet, and is bored out of her skull!

And....... I'm a grandma! OH's DS and DIL had a baby girl, Monday night. 8lb 3oz, called Leah. They live in Oxford, so we are going up Saturday to see her. Going out today to buy he prettiest dress I can find, and socks, and frilly knickers........:rotfl: :T

:bdaycake: to Sammy Kaye and Master frizzell. Have a great day!

    Good morning everyone,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SAMMY AND MASTER FIZZLE

PP - Glad you had a good night and WELL DONE on your DDs report

Sammy - ive lost over a stone now, by cutting out all the snacking, eating 3 meals a day and when having a treat/pudding having half of what i wouldve normally had. This way, im losing weight (been about 2lb a week which is a healthy/sensible way to do it) but i dont feel im missing out, as im still having the odd bit of choc or cake, just not as much. If im hungry between meals (and i make sure i have my 3 meals) i snack on fruit or nuts and seeds but to be honest, im not needing to snack at all. Im also drinking a lot more water, which is prob why i dont need to snack.

Hillstep - CONGRATULATIONS on your new GD

Twink - Well done on your hobnob mention yesterday!!!

Catz - hope your BP results are ok, and DD gets on ok later xxx

Tierd mum - you sound like me, nothing much happening here and feeling a bit fed up!!!

Taplady - :hello: and well done on the extra cash, hope the 11 hours go by in a flash!!!

:hello: mrs mix, Shez, Ivyleaf and anyone ive missed!

Well, as i just said, nothing at all happening here at the moment, ive had work yesterday, today and tomorrow, but only one child at a time - so earning £2.50 an hour!!! But its lovely work, i enjoy it and it enables me to be home so i cant complain. I have increased my prices for all new ones tho, going up to £3 an hour, so looking forward to the extra money when it kicks in in September.

That horrible smell i had in my kitchen months ago, is back - strange because it came back the day after i had had a big clean - so ive run a DW cleaner through, bicarb and vinegar down the plug hole and bleach and boiling water down the 2 drains outside the kitchen. It seems to have faded, but is still there, but no idea what else i can try!!

Definatly going to be going to London in August, so my job for today is to find cheap hotels and cheap rail fares - idealy want to find a hotel near a tube/railway station so that we dont have to be roaming the streets!!!

HUGS to anyone who needs one, hope everyone has a lovely day,
    Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

    morning everyone

betheebee congratulations on your daughters pregnancy. I will keep those fingers crossed for her. will this be a first grandchild for you?

Redruby yes, the cake was wonderful. I'm due 24th Jan.

Happy Birthday SammieKaye and Master Fizzle

everyone sounds generally upbeat today which is great (especailly as the weather is being rubbish). Must be that almost holiday feeling we get at this time of year :D

I have some nice jobs to do today (test out the kenwood chef further) and some not so nice ones.

oh - quick question re: short crust pastry. I hate getting my hands in the mixture, can I rub the butter in gently using the food processor?????
