I have a BT line which I pay them for. Will I be charged extra if I do not make any calls through them? If I have to make any calls should it be a minimum number per month/quarter?
No replies. So could just one person answer this please.
This is my first ever message - am I looking in the wrong place for a reply?0 -
Hi there. Could someone give me some advice.
Currently have line rental with BT and I'm on Primus Home Saver (I think?) Been with Primus since May 06 and only pay them on average £3 per month for calls.
I've got an Orchid dialler which diverts to 18185 for int'l and mobile calls and BT for 0845 and 0870. Only pay around £5 pm for mob and int'l as if I ph mobiles I usually use my free mins on my own mobile phone.
I've got Sky Broadband Everyday which currently costs £5 pm but goes up to £10 pm on 1 Jan 2010.
Sky tell me that if I go on to Sky Talk Freetime, the Broadband package will stay at £5 pm. They've also offered 3m free line rental if I switch to their line rental from BT.
So if I switch I'm saving £60 (12m x £5 broadband) plus £33 (3m x £11 free line rental) in the first 12 months, i.e. £93
Any views on my best option?
If I go to Sky Talk Freetime can I still use my override services or do I only lose this if I switch line rental to Sky?
Thanks in advance for any advice0 -
If you change to Sky Talk but don't also hand over your line rental to Sky, you will still be able to use 18185 because you'll still have BT line rental. However, you won't be able (via the 1280 prefix) to make any calls via BT - so, if you use BT's Caller Display and/or basic 1571, you will no longer get them free because you won't be able to make the necessary 2 calls per month va BT. Caller Display will then cost you £2.50/month and 1571 will cost you £1/month.
I don't know what your BB use needs are but, being a low user (10Gb/month is normally adequate), I agree to a new 12 month contract with BT each year and now pay £7.39/month for BT Total Broadband Option 1.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

U do not pay any extra to BT if u do not use there service for dialling out, unless to access your other service provider u dial a chargeable call. If u dial free phone numbers or 1xxx to access your other service provider u should not be charged by BT..0 -

If you use BT's Caller Display, you will be charged £2.50/month if you don't make 2 or more chargeable or inclusive calls via BT each month (I'd recommend making such calls at weekends when they're inclusive).
The same applies if you use 1571 although the charge is £1/month for that.
The same '2 or more' calls will 'qualify' for 'free' Caller Display and 1571.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Even the customer service was helpful!
However, I'm not sure if I can use an override provider for 0870, 0844, 0845, etc. numbers - the small print's not too forthcoming. Anyone got any knowledge on this?
Try the standard overide code 1280. BUT u might be charged by your CPS. Check there price list.

I am thinking of taking out talk talk's essential package - i.e. £6.49 plus the cost of their phone line, which is £11.25 - this has free evening & w/end phone calls (& unlimited local calls) plus broadband.
I do not have a Talk Talk phone line so will have to pay for new phone line of £59.99.
There are so many offers around:-
1) £30 M&S vouchers (if take out their package by 3 Dec 2009)
2) Get the package through Simplify Digital and pay the £59.99 new phone line but get the same amount in cashback
3) Get cash back on quidco (which I have never used) Quidco says that £10 for phone line and £50 for broadband. Since the essential Talk Talk package is both phone & broadband - then does it mean £50 or just £50?
4) Promotional offer on Martin's letter of today which means that you get 12 montsh free off TT's Essential pakage but not the £30 M&S vouchers.
Can any of these offers be used together?
Please could someone advise me.
Many thanks!0 -
I'm with this guy, Skat. I'd like to pursue the Talktalk essentials package & see from today's bulletin that there is a promotional code for a free 12 months. What is not clear is if you can get this through the cashback sites, such as Quidco. Could Emma of Talktalk advise please? It looks a great product and I'm ready to go if my question can be answered.I am thinking of taking out talk talk's essential package - i.e. £6.49 plus the cost of their phone line, which is £11.25 - this has free evening & w/end phone calls (& unlimited local calls) plus broadband.

Think I've found out the answer to this one - go onto TalkTalk via quidco or top cashback and the promo code in the bulletin won't work. "The promo code used is not applicable on this channel"
Remove the cookies, ie the link back to the cashback site, and the code works fine.
So it looks like a choice between £50 + £30 M+S or £78 off your rental.0 -
Good man - last post.
Thanks
