    Hi Emma.

Perhaps you could help me ?

I currently pay around £27 to £30 per month to Tesco Homephone for line rental and call charges.

I also pay Tesco for their Broadband, at £13.97 per month.

I have been doing this for ages ( over year, and more ) and, looking at whats on offer ( about time !) I wondered which would be the best broadband and home phone package deal for me...

dont use either phone or boradband much either..
    thanks !

ps, or if not Emma, could anyone else help please ?
  • Am thinking of switching to Talktalk from BT for homephone/broadband & rang Talktalk yesterday to specifically ask if I could still use the override company 18185. (important as I call backpacking friends on their mobiles regularly) I was told 'Yes' However the impression I get from all these threads is that you cannot. Have I been given false information from TalkTalk themselves.? Appreciate it if a current Talktalk user could tell me. thanks.

Not being a TalkTalk user I cannot confirm, but irrespective of what others say, I would ask TalkTalk to put it in writing,(e-mail), as a phone call conversation can easily be "lost".

I'm not (and have never been) a TT customer but others on MSE have stated in the past that all short override codes are barred on TT and they have to use those companies' freephone gateway numbers instead (at slightly higher cost usually).

Talk Talk Company Representative has now confirmed (see post #300 below) that 4 or 5-digit prefix codes like 1899, 18866 and 18185 do not work on Talk Talk.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

  • I'm not sure if anyone's mentioned this anywhere on here, but the info on the main article on this site is slightly wrong about my provider. I only pay £14.15 per month for both line rental AND free anytime calls to landlines 24/7 which I think is fab! This is to Euphony and I was told about them by a friend who has been with them for years. No problem with the service, and switching was straighforward. Much cheaper than I was paying with BT and maybe cheaper than some other deals mentioned here. You can find them online I think.

    Hi Nellykim,

I'm not permitted to post links on the forums but if you would like more information on the services offered by TalkTalk then feel free to drop me a private message.

Prifix overried codes are not supported on TalkTalks network. Sorry if you were told differently Devonsun1 - do you have an idea of the countries you would be calling so I can let you know the cost of the calls with TalkTalk?

    Cheers

    Hi Le73Uq86Uv,

Theres no promotional codes I am aware of at the moment but I will ask the web team where these could be located. There are offers on the TalkTalk and Carphone Warehouse website. CPW stores often have a different offer available too.

    Cheers
