Ive been "approached by a company called eZe-talk.
Has anyone any experience of them, just for phone use ,broadband is not needed,thanks0 -
Never heard of them.
However, snazzy website (not necessarily a recommendation of course).
It looks like you have to hand over your line rental (sounds an alarm bell for me because you hand control of call charges over too and it's then likely you would not be able to use override providers like 18185) and, for your voice telephony only requirement, it would currently cost you £12.50/month for:- Free Calls to UK Landlines, evenings & weekends*
- Free Calls to all other customers on the eZe-Talk network*
- Discounted calls to international destinations, e.g. USA, Europe 3p per minute
- Discounted calls to mobiles, 12.5p per minute to the big four providers
- Includes line rental
- Calls outside of the package are charged at 3.5p per minute
- Free 0800 number for family use - no excuse not to call home!
That 12.5p 'discounted' rate to call UK mobiles can easily be beaten, of course, as can the 3p/minute international calls.
OTOH, Steve Harley posted on this forum last month (see HERE) so I suppose direct questions may receive a horses mouth reply.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Have been a customer for a few years now and although they offer good prices their customer sevice is poor, unable to contact on helpline and being charged for hanging on to dicuss a problem. Not able to pay a monthly direct debit on full bill through direct debit, so even though the prices are good you get let down by customer services.:mad:0

They are terrible, don`t touch either of them. It will cost you a fortune in calls to technical support. My family was with Talk Talk, then moved to Tiscali. We`re now back with BT.
Tiscali has been bought by Carphone Warehouse who also owns Talk Talk, who now run Tiscali. Carphone Warehouse is selling up they are in talks with an American company. Talk Talk and Carphone Warehouse are going to split, but it`s rumoured that Charles Dunstone is probably going to sit on the boards of both.
Tiscali and Talk Talk are in trouble with the Information Commisioners office and a high court case is pending, for several other breaches.
The publicity from this will have their shareholders running.
My brother is a stockbroker and after the story posted on The Register.co.uk headlined,"Exposed Activist Accuses Tiscali Of Putting Life In Peril" several of his client`s sold their shares in CPW, stating it was the last straw. When the story hits the tabloids, They are really going to be in the S**T.
If you can`t find the story google exposed activist or tiscali activist for the link if you really want to know what kind of service you can expect.
They are cheap, but at what price, your sanity, your health, your life.I'm wondering if anyone knows if you can use 18185 with line rental from Talk Talk? I'm an avid user of 18185- it has saved me a small fortune but the Talk Talk offer seems good. I wouldn't touch Tiscali with a barge pole after my mother had untold hassle after some intermidiary signed her up fraudulently online.0 -
I am currently with Tiscali and I have had no end of trouble with the router interfering with the phone line and putting lots of noise on the line. However Tiscali insist there is no problem even when their customer support agreed that when I turned off the router there was a definite improvement in the clarity on the line.
As to their 0871 number customer support it is disastrous: I had to wait over 20 minutes more than once to get connected all the time paying through the nose at over 5p a minute just to tell them I had a problem which nine times out of ten they do nothing about.
5 weeks now since I first contacted them to tell them my online bill viewing is stuck on July's bill and it wasn't until last week that they escalated the incident to their engineers and one week later it is still not fixed!
I have tols them I have stopped my Direct Debit and that I am switching ISP and that I want a bill sent out to me either via email or post and still nothing has happened!Have faith in yourself and reach for the sky,
aim for the stars no matter how high.
Just follow your dreams they're waiting for you,
and you're the one who'll make them come true.0 -
I am trying to decide which provider to go for. I want a phone line 24/7 nationally, broadband and tv with Sky sports 1 and 2 ( can't have a sat dish) in a flat. Any ideas - I was interested in Tascali but reading through all the postings has sort of put me off. Help!!!0

Surely if you cant have Sky delivered by satellite dish, your only option is Virgin Media.0 -

Even the customer service was helpful!
However, I'm not sure if I can use an override provider for 0870, 0844, 0845, etc. numbers - the small print's not too forthcoming. Anyone got any knowledge on this?
I am trying to sort out the best package and can't have sky as I am in a flat. Virgin seems very expensive but I am not sure about Tiscali. Anyone else got any comments of advice. I want to get Sky sport 1 and 2 as well. Would it be a better option to go for the tv and keep the BT phone and broadband. joyella0
