My parents moved house at the end of January. They were with TalkTalk for phone, and when they moved TalkTalk closed their account and opened a new one for them. They are currently on a year's contract for Talk UK Evening & Weekend at £4.61 a month, plus Line Rental at £14.95 a month. It's too late to get them a wizard bells and whistles cashback deal with broadband, so all I can think of is to change them to Value Line Rental at £114 a year. I would quite like to be able to have broadband when I'm helping out at their place - any ideas on how would be the most economical way round this, please?0

After our experience of TalkTalk we will NEVER be giving them our money again .
They might be cheaper but they don't listen , they are rude , nothing is done when they say they are doing it and it just took too much hassle too many times to bother again .
We now have Plusnet all the way , but even their operation is going the same way (esp. waiting time for a human - at least you can talk to them when they get to you !) .0 -
Hi, tried the "Which" money podcast advice on haggling. Currently with TalkTalk phone/broadband, Sky TV, called Sky to check prices first. Sky offered 6 months free broadband, then 6 months £7.50. With value line-rental at £119, total cost £144.
Called TalkTalk to cancel, explained deal with Sky, TalkTalk offered half-price (£3.25) for 12 months. I asked if they could do better as I was still tempted by Sky offer. I was put on hold. When they returned they offered phone/broadband for £1.25 (£2 discount). So I have agreed to new 12 month contract, total price £129 for 12 months. This has almost halved by costs! In contrast to marich (above), I found the conversation very pleasant, if lengthy, considering they were dropping the price so much!0 -
I am currently with 02 for Broadband, BT for line rental (12 months in advance deal) anytime call package (special offer from BT) and SKY TV for Sport etc. As SKY are taking over 02 Broadband, which is a shame as 02 have given me exemplary service; I am now in a position where I have to get another BB supplier if I don't want SKY, which will be difficult as I am tied to BT for anoter few months for line rental etc. and SKY insist that you have line rental with them. I would love a bells & whistles package for the lot, but just WHO is the cheapest and best ? That is before haggling of course, what a pain, as none of the packages offer the same and I have been quite happy!!"0844 COSTS YOU MORE"0

Did anyone get the £100 Voucher with the "Cheapest Ever" Broadband & Phone deal from TalkTalk expiring today? TalkTalk insisted I need a new line (had one just a year ago) and new number, so disqualifying me from the voucher, so I said "NO!"0

See my thread re my Talktalk (not) experience here https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4603537
I was with them for three months. They've been billing me for seven months. In all this time I have had any kind of service for six weeks. My advice is do not touch with bargepole.may your good days grow0 -
Thank you so much to MSE!!!!!!! :T
Using your pages, I investigated cheaper broadband and phone providers (with free evening and weekend calls), and found that because I'm an Orange mobile user, I could get a discounted offer with EE. As advised, I checked if cashback was available via Topcashback, and found a deal for half price at £2.50/mth + £14/mth line rental for a year, PLUS £100 cash back, net cost = £10.66/mth. Very good deal, I thought.
Rang Talk Talk to get the MAC code needed for transfer, and they asked what deal was tempting me away. When I gave the above details, they said they'd give me a year of FREE line rental, and t/f me to 'Essentials' at £6.50/mth for a year. :j
That's a result! Thank you MSE!!!0 -
i tried to take advantage of the plusnet deal on broadband, but they could not supply it to my address at that price as BT charge more to them in areas where there in limited competition, is this legal, it sounds like restriction of trade?0

Hi.
Is anyone else having problems using the link for the talk talk broadband offer on MSE?
Every time I click it I get redirected to an error page saying that Google could not connect to ad.doubleclick.net.
Does anyone know what I can do? Really want to take the offer up.0 -

Hi ravmania, thanks for your post. I have checked out the link using Firefox, Chrome and IE and it seems to be working ok for me - could you perhaps try using another browser?
Hope that Helps,
