Hi everyone,
Primus has asked for a thread specifically for you to come to if you have a question to ask directly. I have set the thread up here: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/59682397#Comment_59682397
Of course, you can still post about Primus elsewhere on the forum but if you're a new or existing customer with a question, ask here and Primus is more likely to see it.
To ask a question just join the forum, then click "reply" below. If you aren’t sure how the forum, watch our New to Forum? Intro Guide.
Many thanks,

Hi
If I go with Orange (EE) for my Line Rental, will it still be possible to use override providers (such as 18866) to make cheap calls for only the 5p connection charge?
Thanks0 -
I have been with Primus for two years and I have to say they are one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. They are however by far the cheapest which is why I am still with them.
Signing up for an online account at the beginning was not an intuitive process (and I work in IT so usually have no problem with these kind of things). I contacted customer support but received complete nonsense in reply which was no help at all and eventually worked it out for myself.
They sent me an email saying that if I signed up for a further 12 months I could freeze my prices. I replied to the individual e-mail address concerned in order to enquire further about this option but received absolutely no response from them.
Recently I changed banks, but Primus were among a number of payees that decided to ignore my direct debit transfer request. However unlike the other companies they sent me letters and emails immediately threatening disconnection because I owed them £7. I spoke to them and resolved the issue, gave them new DD details but despite this they still did not use them. They continued to send me red letters for three months until they eventually worked out that they were in the wrong.
I have now managed to log into the new online portal which is better than the old system.
The bottom line really is that if you can cope with a bit of hassle then you will save a couple of quid.0 -
Today I try to log into my online account to view my bill. However for some unknown reason no bills since September last year are listed.

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
I was very tempted to go to TalkTalk with the offer Martin highlighted on 27th Feb, it does seem amazingly cheap, but after reading all the negative comments about the service and the staff that provide it (or service they don’t provide!) posted all around the internet, I wasn’t brave enough in the end to make the move.
I don’t know how representative these criticisms are, after all it’s probably only the complaints that get reported, though there do seem to be a lot of them. But for all those contributors who posted here and moved across to TalkTalk for the year, with all the adverse comments there are, I would be very interested to hear from you about your experience of the service you've received.
So I do hope that in a little while, after you’ve been with TalkTalk for a reasonable period, you will come back to this discussion and tell us how you are finding the service! :money:0 -
I have been with TalkTalk (prevoiusly Tiscali) for many years for broadband and telephone.
I encountered many problems with tech support and sales.
Their sales department, when renewing the contract, made promises that they did not keep. After a lot of hazzle, I contacted one Mr. Phil Collins, Chief Executives Office, who stepped in, did an investigation and sorted out all problems.
I have had other problems since then. People at high level are honest and want to provide a decent service but are let down by the first level support and sales staff.
When my contract end, I will be considering Primus.

Your comments illuminate the problems for customers and agrees with the experience of many others on the internet.
Of course the senior management of the company are ultimately responsible for the people they employ and how they are trained.0 -
Hello fellow money savers. Does anyone know who might provide a simple reliable landline account with a very low standing charge?
Currently I have a BT landline with a separate Plusnet broadband account and until recently had a very old mobile account with no internet. I have calculated that, with my new 4G mobile account, I can close down everything else and save myself over 200 quid per year.
However, friends and family have been saying 'Noo, don't get rid of the landline - you might need it one day'. So, do any of you moneysaving fiends have a suggestion? Thanks in advance.

And, of course, it costs more for those without 'free' mobile minutes to call a mobile from their landline.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. I concur with that.
In fact, my rule is: - If you can't give me a landline number I won't be calling you
Tradespeople take note. The bankers stole my pension (and everyone else's). It should have earned a lot of money, but they took their bonus pot first.0
