You're obviously on Sky LLU and so you'll probably have to return to BT (12 month contract) before you can more to any other provider.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

so, further to my experience with Primus Telecom.
I spent 6 hours on hold trying to get through to confirm my activation appointment. Iemailed them to say I couldn't get through, and got none other than an automatic reply. I informed this site admin about my problems and I informed Ofcom about the poor customer service.
I was worried that I would never get through, and therefore never get a line installed. There are time limits about cancelling a contract like this, so to stop being tied into a 12 month contract with no phone I emailed them to say I wanted to cancel.
I subsequently read on here, and got an email from MSE that the customer service issues were temporary, and I was then able to get through to Customer Services after 10 minutes on hold and was assured that things were getting better so I agreed to go ahead with the contract and not cancel it. She said she would arrange an installation date of 5, 6 or 7 Feb and let me know.
A few days later I got a reply to my cancellation email asking for account numbers to identify me, and I replied that I no longer wanted to cancel, that I had spoken to customer services and the matter was resolved.
I didn't receive a call back with a date, and today is 5th, so I called them today, and they have cancelled my contract because it took them so long to read my email they only read it after I spoke to Customer services and it appears their accounts and Customer Services people don't talk to each other.0 -
Pah! Consider yourself lucky you got any response.
I've been 'cut off' for 3 weeks now.
Had no response to almost daily e-mails.
I'm not prepared to wait on hold for 6 hours in the faint hope of someone picking up my phone call (from a telephone which can't connect to any number anyway, although I must admit, one number I haven't tried is 999.
Interestingly, you'll notice the more responsible telecoms, (ya gotta laugh eh?) like BT and Voda . . . (pause to laugh again) . . . put a representative here in this forum to pick up on their, otherwise ignored, misdemeanours.
If Primus did that, at least it would be a gesture.
Talking of gestures, there's one I'd like to make to them . . .The bankers stole my pension (and everyone else's). It should have earned a lot of money, but they took their bonus pot first.0 -

Can I offer my congratulations on your lucky escape !!
I know we are all about money saving but there is a limit. You only have to read all the tales of woe about Primus to realise it is worth paying a few extra quid for decent service. I changed to o2 about 4 years ago and have no complaints whatsoever! They always come up with a deal each year and I pay BT in advance for line rental. Give them a call (freephone UK call centres 0800 2300202) to see what's on offer and then check with cashback sites. They give unlimited BB and I get excellent speed as well."0844 COSTS YOU MORE"0 -
I don't understand the current MSE TalkTalk offer. I'm really keen to take it up, but the instructions from MSE say to sign up for an annual line rental first and THEN click the link to get the Essentials package. Surely I'll have had to select a package in step 1 when I paid for annual line rental.
Not long left to go for this, so if anyone can help me with this I'd be very grateful.Practising Scrooge and stingy old miser.0 -

I just did it. There was an option there to pay the year line rental upfront, then you had to put your bank details in for the direct debit, then.... before it was all finalised... there was another option to pay the upfront year rental by credit card (which cheered me up). Seemed pretty straightforward. Said everything will happen in about 15 days time.0 -

Far too late, I'm afraid. I don't think anybody who's remotely aware of what's been going on will touch Primus with any length of bargepole.0
