  • I hope this makes sense but as always I leave things to last minute...

I'm on £20 texter previously student promotion with 1000 texts and 100mins calls, taken out June 07. As such I believe that means I should be able to cancel as per the minute billing issue.

But, I actually don't want to leave three as only decent options signal wise are 3 or O2 and latter are far more expensive (as far as I can see). I want a new phone (N95, N95 8GB or SE C902...OK wishful thinking) but to keep about 300 texts and about 200 mins calls.

My contract ends 1st Dec but my 30 day period from receiving dated billing/per minute detail letter runs out Tues 2nd Sept so timing of decision now very short.

I understand I can phone and see what upgrades they can offer me. Know they will offer me rubbish at this stage.

Am actually interested in this weekend deal of C902 at £25 (500 mins / unlimited texts) but as new deal would get quidco of £62.50 back making it £21.53/mth equivalent. Would want to bring costs down to that level over phone otherwise may as well do via quidco.

Thing is, could take out totally new deal via quidco, but

Would I be able to phone and cancel current contract tomorrow due to detrimental changes but get it moved to a PAYG i.e. have new phone for me but old phone as a PAYG for daughter? Presume there is still a 30 day notice of cancellation in this case.

Don't want to sign up for new C902 phone offer (which finishes tomorrow) unless know other contract is cancelled / moving to PAYG.

Any advise from those more experienced at this?

    TIA
If only I could stop finding good bargains on this site, I would save a fortune! :rotfl:

so you cant contest itemised billing but you can for non D/D fees !!!

You won't be able to contest non direct debit fees - pretty much everyone operating today imposes a charge for non-payment by direct debit.

I've actually all but given up trying - nobody has managed to come up with a hard and fast method of cancelling a mix and match taken out after october '07 and I think over the past couple of weeks, 3 have probably got their act together and covered all the angles so i honestly think that if you've upgraded to a mix and match after october 07 then you've got no chance.

Familyfitz you would need to contact the exec office to cancel/get pac, I received my PAC on the 19th Aug and have since had a call offering deals to stay, its possible you may be able to negotiate a deal for the phone you want without the hassle of cancelling. I suppose if you called 333 today you could tell them straight that you are going to leave unless they give you the deal you want and see what they say,

Just came across this thread. I contacted 3 a couple of weeks ago via the executive office, to cancel my contract after receiving a letter informing me of the per second billing.

After leaving me several voicemail messages, I called 3 at the Executive Office and the guy I spoke to offered to move me from my current tariff to Mix and Match 700, I was on
Direct VTT 500 (300 mins and 150 texts) plus an add Internet 10mb add on for which I paid £17.50 a month. I said I'd think about it and call him back.

I called back the next day and told him I wanted a new handset and requested my PAC so I could leave to go to O2. He asked me what I would be getting from O2 and after a bit of negotiation offered me a free Nokia N95 on Mix and Match 700 with X-Series Silver (basically 1gb Internet access) for £19 a month. The N95 is a refurb but he agreed that the warranty on the phone would extend for the full 18 months of the contract and has subsequently confirmed all of the above in writing.

A similar deal on O2 - Online 25 - would cost £25 a month plus a one off cost of £149 for the phone. I'm aware of the Simplicity tarrifs that O2 have but I wanted an N95 and O2 have no more refurbs for sale meaning the phone would have cost around £150 from ebay without a warranty.

It's definitely worth seeing what they will offer you before you leave.

Kidcat it was 08707 330295. The office is open Monday - Friday until 6.30pm
  • My problem is a) left this late in the day! and b) the C902 offer finishes today (think it is just a weekend offer) so if I wait to phone exec tomorrow then that will have passed. I am going to call 333 and say I want to cancel contract and move phone to PAYG (only due to issues unlocking 3 phones and would keep phone useable for daughter) unless they offer what I want....if they can't offer that then I will insist on cancellation and order the C902 on new contract thro quidco. Is a pest having different number but would use unlimited texts to inform everyone.

    Thanks for reply kidcat.

Jasonwatkins - I accepted the Mix and Match contract on Thursday, until then I'd been on Direct VTT 500 since September 2007.

well i find that quite incredible based on what a lot of other people have been told - i'm not doubting you at all, but the general consensus that a lot of people (myself included) have gotten from 3 is that if you have willingly taken out a mix and match contract then you have accepted the per-minute billing and therefore have no right to cancel.
