The guy I spoke to at the exec office said that I had to pay up till my 30 day date but that as it had taken them a week to accept my notice I should ask for credit of 7 days to take this into account. This means an end date of 19th sept for me and my letter of cancellation was sent on the 12th of August, the exec office gave my Pac on 19th August. . You should only pay up to 30 days after you gave notice it ha nothing to do with your billing date. What date did they give you your PAC?

Gave it to me on the 17th, bought iPhone on the 18th and number ported on the 22nd.

Latest email from the executive office....

    Dear Mr blah,
Thank you for your email, dated 28th August 2008.
In response I would reiterate the content of our previous conversation, during which I confirmed that our Terms for 3 Services booklet guides customers to the Price Guide, which they should familiarise themselves with.
I must therefore advise that your request for a deadlock letter will not be considered, as we are not in a deadlock situation.
For your ease of reference , 3's Ombudsman is OTELO and OFCOM is the regulator for the Telecommunications industry.
    Yours sincerely

However have received a bill today for September. I am presuming this is the 30 days notice bill and that I should pay this one and then cancel the direct debit in case they try again to charge me.

Haven't had any confirmation letters or anything since I was given my PAC code either.

Anyone else ported their number away from 3 successfully?

My number's porting over to O2 today :D Before you cancel the direct debit I'd email the exec office (executive.office@three.co.uk) and ask for a confirmation letter if I were you because mine told me when the final bill would be issued. You really don't want to cancel the direct debit early :o

They're meant to send the letters as a matter of course so you should have got one. I recommend emailing the exec office because they phoned me back within about 12 hours of every email I sent them so you should get it sorted out quickly.

So your contract ends on Sept 17th, you should only be paying a part of your sept bill, you would def be better contacting the exec office and requesting a final bill. Explain that you plan on cancelling the DD and when you have received the final bill you will pay them. Otherwise you will end up paying them and waiting for a refund, and lets be honest with the service Three are providing how long will a refund take.

I assume your argument is that we were not notified when this change was made, therefore they have broken their own agreement on that count, as we should have been told of this change no later than the 25 September 2007 - which is one month prior to the alleged change.

And if they are not prepared to go any future then that is a deadlock!

I called today (emailed last week)
They say they never got my email, so I said I wanna cancel now, on the phone. She kept telling me it would be expensive, and I kept telling her it would be free! In the end, I asked to speak to her supervisor. She put me through to the 'customer options' team, who kept telling me it wouldn't affect me because I never use all my minutes (true, but that's cos I keep nicking DH's phone! lol)
I said it was irrelevant, and still a detrimental change, so I wanted to cancel FOC as per their own t+c, and eventually he agreed. When I asked for it in writing, he said they don't do that. Did say phone would be disconnected 28 Sep and last payment taken approx 20 Oct (can't cancel DD as we are away from 14th oct til end oct).
So now I am not sure, as he has said its cancelled and will become PAYG number, but will not be getting anything in writing till ater 28 sept - have to wait for the bill to see if it says final bill!

Have to wait and see I suppose.

edit - it was an 18 month contract to run out in Feb 09

If you ask for a PAC even if you only take the number to a PAYGO at least you would know contract gonna end.
