Hi
Just wondering whether (or how easy it would be) I can get my PAYG upgraded on my existing SIM. I have an unlocked Nokia 3510i, which I bought off Ebay 3 years ago, and it's still going strong, however would like a phone with tri band and bluetooth facility. Would like another Nokia either 6280 or 6111, and then can pass on old phone to DS.
I've been with Orange for about 10 years first on contract with their "Plan Ahead" service, then moved to PAYG when that finished, I've had the same number for 8 years. I'm not a high rate user so don't qualify for a discount on an upgrade according to the Orange website, it would seem I would have to buy as a new customer then port my old number over. If I bought a phone on Orange network, I could swap the old SIM card into it couldn't I? (I've done it before), but then would be stuck with another SIM with credit on it as you can't seem to buy a PAYG phone without crediting the new number.
Would going into an Orange shop make this process easier? Or is there another way? We do have Orange BB, would this help? (although I don't want a contract phone).
Hope that makes sense. I just want a new phone, with my existing SIM on the Orange network, without spending more than £100 on a new one, and not buying one off Ebay!!
Cheers

1 how many months have you been in contract ?
2 if more than nine you can move to any cheaper lower plan than the original
3 if less than nine months you can only go up to higher cost plans or move across to one that is the same price as the original
the futures !!!!!!........the future's blamouncheSO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0 -
whats the talkplan that your on
indication is that it will be early and a half decent banding (definatly over 3 out of 5)
sometimes if youve got a decent retentions deal already though can affect the banding and upgrade fee
usually early is 3months early, but in really high spend can be even earlier (we upgraded my mums in month 7 out of 12!!)
Hi thanks for the reply.
I'm actually on a t-mobile tariff, 700 mins and 100 texts I believe, £40 a month.0 -
Hi diamonds
Thanks for your interest and reply.
I'm not a high spender on my PAYG probably do a £10 top up once every couple of months, we are with Orange BB on the £19.99pm package (which I think is the fastest and has the highest allowance). I've been with Orange for about 10 years, but I guess that expenditure rather than loyality count for more!
Cheers

Fuzzy id really advise you to go on contract @ a £25 a month tarrif and get yourself a magic number ( this could be your current payg number ) for free calls to it, free broadband and an allowance of calls/texts every month - nope im no Orange employee but I am a moneysaveroooppppsss and a free top of the range handset!
you could see your landline bill go down using the included mins on a contract
Direct from Orange website £25 gets you........
dolphin
150 mins 300 texts & unlimited evening/weekend texts
racoon
225 mins 100 texts & unlimited evening/weekend landline calls
id go dohlpin as free texts ( 10p each ) compared to 5p connection via 18185 for landline calls will save more money than racoon deal, text people off peak for free saying give me a call on the landline/or mobile
they both cover £19.99 for broadband and £5 a month ( £10 top up over 2 months ) but you will have alot more usuage than your £5 a month usage is on Orange payg and the magic number is usful for partner/kid calls as they are free from your contract
think about it, it may save you £££ on landline to mobile callsSO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0 -
To get free broadband do you not need to be on an 18 month contract with a minimum monthly rental of £30 so I'm not sure how you would get free broadband on those £25 per month tariffs?
Also remember that the 'free' broadband is up to 2MB speed, has a 2GB monthly cap and has no livebox - the £19.99 package Fuzzy is probably on just now has up to 8MB, is unlimited and has the livebox; to get that over and above the 'free' broadband you need to spend another £5 per month.0 -
im sure canary is 850mins

agrees
Orange asked would i like my Dolphin @ £35 upgraded to latest dolphin tariff offering at 600mins & unlimited texts instead of my 550 mins ( 50 mins xtra for buying direct ) & unlimited texts ( @ £35 )
i asked can I keep my 2000 extra retention mins as well as my bonus 500 texts on top of my unlimited texts ( 3000 max a month ) aswell
orange woman - " ooohhh I didnt notice them, I just looked at your basic package of 500/500 seems like theres no point in changing anything! you got a fantastic deal already "
ME - " I know ! "
orange woman - " sorry to have bothered you "
getting a extra 50 mins base would have lost me 2000 mins & 500 texts so *beware* ask questions about your current benefits that can not transfer to " new enhanced " plansSO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... yes but they will play ball on a retention deal, make it clear what you want - over to contract and all your benefits of broadband, there is more chance of them making money with you going over your included usage allowance on a contract than broadband - thats what they bank on ! and you already have an livebox, new free 24/7 orange calls from your broadband are a bonus too as well as international landline calls to loads countries
I took a orange 10 months free on a 12month contract from thelink website & called for a returns code within 14 days @ £35 I said the deal 500/texts&500mins wasnt good enough and I wanted to cancel and port back out to o2 for free weekends, I got 2550 mins 3500 texts, free broadband, free answerphone, free itemised billing for £35 for 18months
Remember I was a new customer!! ( never orange'd in my life ! )
My cashback with thelink was unaffected
I was well and truely mistified & orangified ! I kept asking whats the catch ?
none apparently & 6 months later im still a happy orangified man !
ive been tango'ed!!!!! lol
research then tell em what you want (within reason )!
other people on here seem to get broadband on 12 month contracts, but 18 months really do kick !!! with the included extras
worked for I!SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0
