    Dear eco21

Two contract SIMS are not working so called up the Orange Customer service and found there is a problem .
Requested them to send new ones , the representative taken all the details and at the end he said there is a service charge of 17 pounds + VAT for one SIM card.
So for two SIMS it will be come around 36 pounds , so please advise what should I do.

Already 6 months contact is over another 6 months is left .

    Regards

    Kumar

Sim cards are really hard to break, I own a shop and have loads of old sims and takes a lots to break them, thats why they charge so much. Tech support maybe able to help, 150/450 from your handset

I agree they are hard to break, even when you cut them into pieces to put 2 sims into a ghost sim they work fine. The instructions say cut carefully along the dotted line but I just randomly cut them out and they are ok.

If the OP has the time available they could port the numbers to another network (free sims) and then port them back to Orange (more free sims).

As v_kumar is on contract rather than PAYG the porting would not necessarily work as intended, more thought required.

Possibly as described above and then ask Orange to move PAYG Orange number (original contract number ported off elsewhere and back to Orange PAYG) back onto the part expired contact. Can you do this?

As an advanced moneysaver I only keep my contracts for twelve months before cancellation - the cashbacks and sales of handsets mean that I get all my mobile telephony free of charge (yea, for receipt of fine gold), but there is one distasteful side to all this - the "Dear John" call that inevitably comes at the eleven month stage. There's nothing personal against Orange or any other network's customer services in all this, it's just that one has to ring the changes in order to get the best offers

Tips please, for making this painful process as stress-free as possible. Logic tells me that the recipient of the call couldn't care one way or the other except insofar as the more retentions they make, the greater their chance of a monthly bonus. There must be some magic buzzwords that their training tells the retentionists "this is a terminal case", and they should not proceed with the script and riposts any further.

Pay as You go, normal works out cheaper in places like the Link, or surf online, Orange don't offer retail store all that much in the way of PAYG,

    Sorry

Orange and all the other networks have there own Target's for customer number, This month orange have hot their target so the retention deptment will be happy to lose a few customers, 3 - are way behind the rest to will do almost anything to keep you.

So sorry no magic buzzword just keep trying until you get the deal you want, and hope that there behind target.

  • Need advice for 2 people who want to upgrade:

One wanted a D600 for free and 12 months half price, but Orange CS wouldn't go anywhere near that, he would have been happy with 6 months, but the only way they would give him the phone for free was on an 18 month contract with no reduced line rental! Any tips or suggestions? I advised him to quote the offers he's seen on OneStopPhoneShop and e2save but didn't seem to make any difference.

Also I know someone who wants the tariff where you get 750 xnet minutes for £30 a month, his wife managed to get it about a year ago (after numerous phone calls) and got a free Nokia 6230, he's hoping for the similar. Are they more likely to give it to him because his wife has it? SHould he quote 3 offers to influence them?

    Any help appreciated.

fatboyonadiet, I imagine you're looking for 750 anytime x-net minutes. However, if off-peak only is okay, I did manage to get Orange to let me go on the 1000 off-peak x-net minutes tariff at 6 months half price, making it equivalent to £18.75 a month over the 12 months contract (usual price £25 a month).

It did require about 6 phone calls to various peeps, but I managed it in the end. The phone call that did it was when I told them that Phones4U get £50 when upgrading peeps and they offered me £30 of it to do the upgrade at their store...I was ringing up to bypass that and maybe get a reasonable deal. Good for Orange, they said they would find a good deal...over the year it's a wonderful £75 saving on the very tariff I wanted.
  • It is the anytime any network, but thanks for the advice anyway
