Just a quick question.
I can't find just the right scrapbooking paper for my door hangers - you know when you can see it in your mind but the shops just don't have it:mad: .
Do you think that wallpaper would work? I have papered large mdf panels before and they still look as good today as when I did them last year.
Would also be very moneysaving if it works because you can get free samples from all the diy shops.

I think mary used wallpaper on one
And I reckon it would be fineHonorary Northern Bird bestowed by AnselmI'm a Board Guide and volunteer to help get your forum questions answered and keep the forum running smoothly on Special Occasions, Green/Ethical, Motoring/Overseas/UK Travel & Flood boards, it's not part of my role to deal with reportable posts. I'll be trying wallpaper... And on a set of drawers I just got from Ikea cos they're too wide for the 12x12 papers I've got.
I just watered down some white acrylic paint and it went on the hangera a dream! Needs to be watered down, it's too thick otherwise and doesn't spread well... Need to do a couple of coats too, but its worth it I think (hope!)A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... Davgirl1 - I didn't use wallpaper on the hangers (didn't have enough of the right colours).........tried using it to cover a shoe box bus got in a pickle -think the paper was too thin - so used scrapbook paper instead..........had to patch it up here and there so picked a pattern that was sort of 'patchwork' in the first place.
Hadn't thought of acrylic paint..........and haven't got anyThink I might have another go with paper on one and see how I get on.
Not today though..........oldest boys 18th and he's already been to the pub.............lol:rotfl:Mary

I know he will Krystal..............trouble is, if he's suffering the rest of the household will..................
Haven't got any art shops around here.........well, nearest ones a 40 mile round trip...................still contemplating my paper..................lol
Right..............just took the bull by the horns and had another go !
This time I drew around the hole on the back of the paper and cut that out first. Had to re-cut here and there before I pasted it on but here's hoping...............if it looks ok when the paste is dry then I'll press on with the rest..............................talk about nervous tension..............pmslMary

Here is another Xmas door hanger...
I used Papermania paper and chipboard shapes and another 49p tree from Hobbycraft.
I then moved my thoughts onto door plaques and made these two for my little monkeys for Xmas...
The blue paper is a bit darker in the flesh than the pic shows. I love these! They are very simple and were really easy to make - just my kind of craft(bought the animal shapes!)
Need to work out what to use to attach the plaques to a door - double sided foam pads? Anyone got any ideas? If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -
:wall: rainmac - you;ve done it again !! :T I must stop reading this thread ! Now I want even more door hangers to do christmas ones.................. and I know they won't look as good as yours and I'll have complete nervous breakdown..................:rotfl:
On the plus side...........the one I did yesterday where I cut the hole first, is looking sort of ok..............
Think double sided foam pads might be ok though you'd need a few I'd think. You can get self adhesive stickers with a sort of hook on -I've used them for stuff before now and once the stickers one its well stuck so you have to get it right first time.
Oh, forgot to say.............they're all brilliant !!! As usual.................:TMary
