I think I'm driving my OH out of home.............was doing pickled bums yesterday and he suddenly decided to go to the pub a bit earlier.................lol

Back to the door hangers............I'm at the ribbon stage with a couple of them. Whats the best way to do this as I'm hopeless at creating a bow......and how many times do you wrap the ribbon round before you tie it ?
(Know it sounds a daft question but every time I try it looks wrong)

Mary, I have knotted my pieces of ribbon rather than tie bows (I too am not good with bows ;) ). I have put the ribbon through the circle hole once and tied it then tied again to form a knot and then cut the 2 ends of ribbon and then repeated it again with another colour ribbon. I think knots sort of add to the homemade look. Does this make sense

    Lovely hangers as always!!!

The boys door plaques are just perfect!!!!! Well done :) Can I ask one thing though? .... Is your Thomas as much as a monkey as my Thomas? ;)

My Thomas is 19 mths and a complete monkey which sometimes makes me feel  but most of the time makes me feel :rotfl:

I managed to get him some of those Night Garden characters by the way but they were full price in my Tesco  Still bought them as I know he will love them ;)

I have only tried glue, I screwed up big style using PVA as my paper was too thin and went all wrinkly. I used pritstick in the end which worked well but I am pretty sure Rainmac has used double sided tape and worked well.
Good luck with making them, can't wait to see them.

Here is another Xmas door hanger...

    IMGP2219.jpgIMGP2220.jpg

I used Papermania paper and chipboard shapes and another 49p tree from Hobbycraft.

I then moved my thoughts onto door plaques and made these two for my little monkeys for Xmas...

The blue paper is a bit darker in the flesh than the pic shows. I love these! They are very simple and were really easy to make - just my kind of craft(bought the animal shapes!) ;)

Need to work out what to use to attach the plaques to a door - double sided foam pads? Anyone got any ideas?

Wow .... they are absolutely gorgeous!!!!
Did the chipboard shapes come already coloured ..... or did you do that too?

rainmac - thanks. I've got some ribbon wider than others so think I'll combine the two...............just need to get the right colours now.

cookiedough - I stuck my paper on the hanger with wallpaper paste -I'd mixed some up to cover a couple of shoe boxes. It worker ok -I'd made it quite thick. Otherwise I think I'd maybe have used PVA. Thicker paper is better....less risk of tearing (though I still managed it...........lol)

I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !

  • thanks all, I used double sided tape around most of the edges and pritstick for the middle. The tape is from OH's work and really strong so I shouldnt have to worry about it peeling.

After sticking them down, OH informed me that his knife is at work, I am not going to attempt to cut around them with scissors, I will wait until tomorrow

    Ohhh, good luck :D

I have used both glue and double sided with similar results. I am impatient so had to sit on my hands when using glue so not to start cutting before the glue had properly dried. I've used glue on most of them as I reckon it is much cheaper.

    Remember to post pics ;)

No that's fine Rusty, even at just over £2 each I think they are a good price and little T will love them :D I do also have a bigger boy who starts school in 2 weeks and is as much of a monkey as his brother :p
