rainmac - don't worry.............yours look terrific they really do..........you know you;re the reason wer'e all frantically tearing our hair out doing these..................lol:rotfl:
I want to put little pockets on mine with little message on to imply 'in' or 'out' sort of thing. Have to phrase it right for two 16 year olds.................lol (so OH tells me) Might pinch your christmas idea with the 'santa stop here' tag on it for baby grandson if thats ok.
Ones I''ve done so far (as far as colour goes anyway) are
wishy washy dark brown -finished that with pocket with button on and laces
stripey one (pale green/pink/cream) -nothing on that yet
stripey one (rust/drk.brown/cream) - ditto
Dark jade type green(sort of blotchy) - ditto
Two more to go not started on yet.
Thinking of one doing them for:
teenage grandson - likes computers and all hi-tech stuff
teenage grandaughter - anything 'girlie'
baby grandson - will do christmas one/or a 'hush, baby sleeping' type
my son - think he'll end up with the brown one
ex foster girl - do a 'dressing room' one for her
That leaves me a spare one !!!! Oh eck............bit of bad planning there !
Mary, you could make one for yourself, "leave me alone, crafter at work" If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -
Awww thanks you lovely people!
LOL I keep looking at the 'L' because it soooo looks like a giant worm in the pic :rotfl::rotfl: I'm not going to change it though, as in real life it does look okay, I stitched it and on various ones added buttons, that's a silver star at the top and a heart next but it's not that clear.
The silver writing says 'Keep Out Genius @ Work' cos my little sister is a bit of an arty person and into fashion designy sort of stuff and getting non stop distinctions at college. If you meant the bit at the bottom, it's some gushy waffle about 'Dreaming Loudly', it was one of things that was in the Arty Miss scrap book pack.
rainmac - I don't know why I keep adding the tagsI was making recycled gift tags a couple of weeks back, and now can't stop :rotfl::rotfl:I think my hangers look a bit plain without them now
Right, next one should be a paintball themed one, after that it's another girly one...............only prob is, I've got to go back to work next Weds so that will be that for a whileHonorary Northern Bird bestowed by AnselmI'm a Board Guide and volunteer to help get your forum questions answered and keep the forum running smoothly on Special Occasions, Green/Ethical, Motoring/Overseas/UK Travel & Flood boards, it's not part of my role to deal with reportable posts. Eeek !!! Not sure about the painted ones now...........turned out the paint I'd got was matt finish !!!! Doesn't look as good as I thought, not very smooth and oodles of brush strokes..............might resort to battling with paper again...............:rotfl:
Tied some ribbons at the side of the hole on one of my papered ones that I thought I'd messed up and the ribbons cover up the 'mistakes', so thats one answer. I've seen some images on internet where two colour ribbons are tied at each side, not in a bow, just in a knot.........better for me as my bows are hideous........................lol
I'll get there in the end...............:TMary

That one's gorgeous Savvy! Need to make a nice one for my aunt that says 'Do not disturb' apparently... But my 4 new door hangers and 3 plaques turned up today, fantasticly quick service! And I popped to the local warehouse and picked up some tubes of paint just for the edges. (Now I've read your problems Mary I'm a little dubious...) The pink paint I used on mine was a crayola emulsion with a slight satin finish, works really well... I got a couple of tester pots for doing murals on dd bedroom walls.. The other one is purple though and don't have anything to go with the that....A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Mary, how about if you lightly sanded the paint to give it a shabby chic/ rustic feel, would that help do you think?
savvy, so well done to your son, fab marks:wave: If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -

And I was going to suggest the same sort of thing only was going to describe it as a bit shaker.................which I guess is New England shabby chic! :rotfl::rotfl:

Thanks.........but don't think they'd look nearly as good. The overall surface is too 'grainy/brush strokes' (my painting with cheap brushes maybe ?) I'm wondering if I could get a tester pot of silk finish rather than matt whether that would make a difference.
Might try that and see what happens -I was so miffed.........ended up take me nearly all day what with waiting for three coats of paint to dry on each side..........................lol
Still, I';m chuffed with the ribbon I've put on one of the papered ones..........just need to get some embelishments now............when I can decide what sort.................lolMary
