Just called up to cancel as my 100mb broadband is going up fro £22.50 to £33.
Best they could offer was £28.25 for 100 mb or £24.25 for 50mb.
Went ahead and cancelled, really hope retention's call as to be honest I don't have a backup plan, I'm so far from the exchange ADSL speeds are ridiculous. I don't have a phone line either. I've been with Virgin since they were telewest and the fastest speeds were 512kbSigless0 -
We have been with VM since FOREVER. Infact our email is an old blueyonder.
Not in any deal so called to discuss better deal or cancel.
Current package is 50mb fibre optic bb
Basic M tv package
Line rental free w/e calls paying about £42 dep on calls made.
We have freeview TVs so really only bothered about BB& phone line (if essential)
Given we are out of contract are there even better deals?
Need unlimited BB as a given.
Really don't want hassle given the email address we have to change0 -

I have the same package and have been paying £24.99 p/m including line rental for the past year and they gave me a £40 credit last year.
I have been offered the same monthly price to stay for another year but the biggest credit they could offer was £10.
They also offered 50mb BB & Phone including line rental for £19.50 p/m0 -
Got a call back this morning.
£22.99 for 100mb going up to 150mb when the speed increase kicks in.
I was paying £22.50 so I'm happy enough with a 49p increase.
Did try to get him down but he wouldn't budge.Sigless0 -
Our VM contract comes to an end in a couple of days. Currently, we pay £90 for the following:
XL TV
2 x Tivo Boxes
Big Kahuna Sports Bundle
152mb Internet
We used to pay closer to £80 but with various increases it has risen by £10. Has anyone had any luck getting a similar package for less?
Cheers
Got a call back this morning and was offered the same deal for £68 on a 12 month contract. I'm pretty please with that so didn't bother trying to play for a second retentions call.0 -

If TV isn't essential, Virgin should offer something around £17-20 (inc line rental) for your BB.
I quoted to them this following Sky deal:
http://www.sky.com/shop/broadband-talk/broadband-unlimited/?DCMP=knc-GOOGLE-nc-SAB-sky+broadband+new+customer+deals&gclid=CjwKEAiA64uyBRCVmKyT2vuAjzgSJADfINB6jQK4k3z6x6uo9ZpoKoO2W4P0aAQuRGnYXplMHzma8xoCGp3w_wcB
However, be sure to tell them you want to be on the same deal as a new customer which is £5 for 50mb BB + line rental like this advertised Virgin BB deal:
http://www.uswitch.com/broadband/news/2015/08/virgin_media_launches_unlimited_50mb_fibre_broadband_deal_for_5_a_month/
I mentioned this deal and why am I paying more when I'm a loyal customer. After some to and fro, I renegotiated my contract and now paying £3.50 for 50mb (will get an upgrade to 70mb next year) + cost of landline (will pay up front for 12 months at cost of £164) making my bill about £17/month effectively which I'm more than happy with.
Keep us updated with what you get and best of luck.0 -
Current BB deal is £4.99 a month for 12 months then £17.50 a month
+ Virgin Phone line (£16.99 a month)18 month contract.
They have offered M+ tv package, 50mb BB W/E call for £48 inc line rental.
We have Now tv boxes.
Would miss some tivo options of catch up etc but not end of world.
Don't want a new 18 mth contract just for BB as it'll jump to £34 + after 12 mth.0 -
They messed up our order and now we got free line rental for the year + loyalty discounts of £14 on 50MB BB, M+ TV & L Phone
Been a customer for over 15 years but every time in past few years we've had to request cancellation and had a supervisor/manager call for a better deal.0 -
How long do the retentions team normally phone back? My wife phoned yesterday to renegotiate our contract but ended up cancelling, which wasn't quite what I wanted! Hoping they'll ring back with a better offer now.0
