  • Only called up on Friday to cancel. Services go off on 18 october. Since my last offer was for £14.50 I wanted closer or lower to that. Cheeky I know
  • I have

    TV XL
    Broadband 100mb
    Tivo box 500
    1 standard box
    1 record box
    Unlimited telephone
    pay upfront line rental
    £77.00

I am out of contract now so phoned friday to cancel my date is 18th October my first offer was £62 on friday i refused received a call today and was offered £55 I refused that as well. I just hope they will lower the price in march with my loyalty discounts i was paying £42 with no discounts now that is what the price has went up too. I told them i would get better discounts if i was a new customer.
  • Hi all

I've been with VM since day dot. I am currently paying around £33 for the Big Easy which includes a £6 loyalty discount.

I've decided I no longer need / want the Tivo or the landline. I use neither - haven't switched the Tivo on in over 9 months.

OK so I am wondering what prices people have managed to get as an existing customer for the BB only on the lowest speed? Do they still do the 20mb speed as a special?

Also if I phone and ask them to cancel my services and agree to the 30 days notice to end services - will they wipe my webspace in that time? I ask because I recall cancelling a few years back and they wiped my webspace a day after I told them I was cancelling my services.

I have 50mb BB only and currently pay £19.50 per month. Contract will be up early August so hopefully will be able to get it down even further.

Been offered £18.50 per month over 12 months with one of credit of £60 which brings it down to £13.50 per month. I am very happy with this deal. Just shows its worth haggling. I always go for online chat too, as you can save the transcript in case they suddenly say they didn't offer what they say they did!

Wow! That is amazing if it includes the line rental?

Did you cancel your services to get this deal - or just contact retentions as an existing customer?

Gary does clearly say it's 50mb BB only.

  • Well I will be onto them on Monday (retentions chat not available on Sunday). I will be delighted if I can get the same deal!

Just gave notice. My deal was 150 meg BB, Anytime calls, Big Kahuna channels for £36 a month - they want to charge £60 now! So hoping for better deal - will wait for call and see what happens.

Anyone got a good deal on this? Im not bothered about calls it was part of the deal last time - was also offered a 2nd box but declined.
Being bored is so boring Im bored of it... :rotfl:
  • Well I dunno who Gary1963 chatted to - but the best they would offer me was £30.25 broadband only or £25.49 broadband + W/E telephone.

If I give notice - will they wipe my webspace immediately? They did that before when I gave notice some 5 or 6 years ago. I have some linked images there which I need to move.

    Thanks!

It is always recommended to keep a back up of data whether on VM servers, elsewhere online or your computer - a technical glitch and it is easy to lose data (I learned the hard way, not with VM but another host).

In theory nothing should be touched if you give notice until the notice period ends but back up before calling just to be safe.
  • Thanks Anon

I have backups - just that some images are linked to sites etc. I need to move them to another server & re-link them.

Anyway I chatted again this morning to VM - and they will not compare to the likes of SSE etc - saying their services are ADSL with a maximum of 3Mb download speed and they would not support my monthly usage. He said over 90% no longer use those (ADSL) services.

Endless paste after paste of pre-written scripts...

Eventually they said they would be happy to take my 30 days notice.
