I'd confirmed my disconnect date as 27th October, services were disconnected on the 1st of October so called them to sort it out and have the services activated again until the 27th as was agreed. Now I received a new 12 month contract in the post:huh:...are they having a laugh? At no point did I ask for or accept a new contract, all I wanted was my services disconnected at the correct date, not before.

Oh well, that's another complaint put in. Perhaps this time I'll be dealing with someone that isn't a complete mongo.

Does anyone know what I should do here? I accepted a retention deal a few weeks ago and am now getting 60 Mb broadband and M phone for £26.49 per month which is good. However we now wish we had added on TV as well. Apparently to add on the lowest TV package will cost an extra £12.50 per month, is there any way to save on this?
  • Gave my notice last month in early advance, so my cut off date is 11 November 2013. Got a call from them 2 weeks ago offering 60 meg only at £22.50. Declined the offer.
They rang again on Thursday and offered the same deal. Again i declined. The rep told me this was the best offer i would get and as i use the internet alot, would be stuck if i went elsewhere..

Heres where i now worry. Im on holiday the week before i get cut off. Back on the Sunday morning(10 Nov).

Should i call on the sunday to get a deal and just accept what i get, will the retentions team even be open?

Also if i let them D/C me, will they call back like sky do to get you to return and are they likely to charge for this?
  • My new deal is:

    £51.99/month

    3 boxes (1x Tivo 1TB, 1x Tivo 500GB, 1x HD)
    XL TV
    120MB BB
    Weekend phone
    Line rental

    All install and activation free.
  • Hi, I have been with Virgin Media on BB only package (phone line with BT, TV with Sky). I was paying £22.50 per month for 60Mb broadband.

I wanted to upgrade to a collection package and receive all my services through VM as i thought it would be cheaper. They offered me:

    120Mb BB
Talk unlimited extra (XXL) - unlimited anytime mins to landline/mobile/0870/0845 and 1000 international mins.
XL TV including sky sports/BT sport/Sky Movies
    Free Tivo Box
Extra HD box for another room

For £114/month including line rental fee

OR £99.50/month plus £120 one off fee for line rental - making it effectively £109.50/month

12 month contracts and discount applicable for 2 years.

Not sure if this is a good deal? It is basically the VIP collection but has the additional international minutes
  • Hi folks,

Well, I've gone further than I have gone before and put a cancellation notice into VM.

My plans are to lose the TV, migrate my home phone number which is only used for incoming calls anyway to a VoIP service and just have broadband. I'd like a deal with VM on the broadband so I declined their 1st offer of £27.50pm for Freeview via the VM box, phone and 30MB BB, their 2nd offer of £22.50pm for BB only and their final offer of £20.50 for BB only.

I've had to leave my phone active for now so that I can port to a VoIP provider - they wouldn't cancel it as I wanted to port.

So, I'm left holding out that VM retentions will call me and make me a better offer on the BB.

What number do retentions call from? We usually ignore unrecognised numbers on the landline, but I plan to add their number into the phone so I can see when it's retentions.

I hope this all works out in my favour now the cancellation is in!
