Well, I called to cancel with Virgin as Sky were offering their 6 months free BB, which would cost me £12.25 a month for the first 6 months, then £22.25 after that, all including line rental.

I just got a call from Virgin retentions offering me free BB & line rental for 3 months, then £21 after that. Now I don't know what to do, as it actually works out cheaper than Sky over the year now. Should I hold on for a better offer, or is that likely to be the best I can get?
  • Got a call yesterday, they took no notice of me asking them to ring me, luckily I was at my Nan's though.
Spoke to a lovely lady who asked what was wrong and why she was leaving.

    Got offered
Lower BB 10 meg but will double for free in July anyway
    XL TV
    XL Phone
    TIVO free
and a new hub? as her internet is very slow..
    £50.90 a month but £12 off that price for the 1st 3 months :j

I accepted. My Nan's pleased as am I. All I wanted was a better deal and a compatible box for her TV, without paying for delivery/installation/activation.

Was the £13.90 line rental on top of this, or was it included? I ask as I know on my bill my "bundle" price is seperate. This offer sounds great, but don't want to call Virgin all guns blazing without making sure it includes the line rental. My current deal is so bad, I'm embarrassed to even state it!

    I was offered today:

    XL tv with recorder box
    BB 10 mg
    XL phone
    Caller display

For £49.95 (rising by £2.50) in April

Or same as above but medium tv for £38.95 (rising by £1.50 in April)

Is this a good deal for retention? currently got the top package for £58 per month and out of contract this would be a new 12 month contract with the discount for 24 months.

I got called off the loyalty team and 20 quid a month off for 12 months and a free 1tb TiVo :) the lass I spoke to was Emma and she gave me her number 01914236473 and she said I could recommend people to her for a discounted rate so long as there moving or new customers, I got my sister set up cheap and my dad! So far so good! Sky couldn't even come close to what I got from them :)

What did you actually get and how much.

    Yes, we currently have:

XL TV, M Broadband (10mb), Talk Weekends local, V+ box plus Additional Vbox = £35
    Line Rental = £13.90
    Sky Sports & Movies = £29.50
    Total £78.40

We're due to be disconnected on 3rd March and have still not received a call from Outbounds Retentions so I just phoned retentions again to see what they could offer. The best, they say, they could offer is £76.90 for the same package, i.e. a saving of £1.50, which I declined. He said he would update our account notes to say that we have declined this offer and still going ahead with the disconnection. I asked if he could request that Outbounds Retentions give us a call. He said he could not do that as when we gave notice to disconnect back in early Feb this would have triggered a call from them. I said we had not received a call but he implied that we could do before we are due to disconnect. He also implied that they would not be able to offer a better deal, as has happened in the past. Hopefully the newly added notes to our account may, or probably may not, trigger a call.

    Just got offered and accepted

XL TV + Sky sports package
    BB L
    Line rental and M phone
    TiVo free installation etc
    £68 After price rises

2 months free which means an average of around
£57. Pretty happy with that though it was my first call so not sure whether I could have got better. Won't be leavin after all
  • Ok, I currently have full phone package - Xl, and xxl bb (50mb) plus I have 2 x Sh kHD (full package except sky sports)

Rang retensions as I was going to leave but love the BB speeds, they suggested:

M Phone (dont use it enough it seems)
    XL TV with 2 x 500mb Tivos
    50mb BB

Price inc line rental £99 (will be after April) and £25 off for 3 months. No installation costs
BUT I dont get the HD channels.

Not sure its a good deal or not as its only marginally cheaper than sky. Any advice appreciated as I'd prefer to have the HD channels and one of the Tivos 1TB ones as my Sky HD boxes are 1TB ones.

Any advice appreciated or if anyone has a contact that maybe able to get me a better deal, let me know.
  • So its that time for me!
    current package VM :-

    XL TV
    XL BB
    L PHONE
    2 X V+ BOXES
    0845/0870
    CALL BAR
    TRIPLE COMBO LOYALTY DISCOUNT
TOTAL COST £60.50 (WILL RISE IN APRIL TO 65-66.)

So i am out of contract did the `thinking of leaving` calll and they can`t do anything so i asked about the value of the discount. I am told the discount is 38.50! so in short VM are saying package is really worth £99.45 before discount !!!! errrrrrmmmm don`t think so. I did say to retentions that my package is not 99.45 or near that to which her response was i don`t know what the prices are you would have to speak with sales. Just to recap xl tv no movies or sports.

30days notice given and a heart felt message to neil berket (ceo) to which i got a reply (within 2hrs) that my case is getting looked at and i will get a call in next 24hrs. (lets see).

So guys what do you think????? whats your deal ????
    thanks
