I never got a letter...just a date over the phone for the disconnection date...did you get the hard sell when asking for disconnection?0

Got the 'better broadband' talk. Then got asked whether I wanted to transfer my number and that if I did I had to call back. So said cause I dont use my phone then I wont take it over to sky with me.
I asked for e-mail and he said I would recieve a letter after telling me the collection dates.
Thing is I;'m ot sure what number they have on account to phone us. Doesnt have one under profile online.
Hopefully it's not the landline0 -
despite giving them mobile numbers they called our landline...I was fortunately in at the time...sheer luck more than anything.0

We dont have a phone plugged in to the wall lol so maybe we wont get any calls. OH has a mobile with them though so maybe they will call that. It's stupid that you cant change it online.
Do they ever send e-mails from retentions?0 -

Hi, no, at best if you are extremely lucky you will get a call from retentions.:beer:0 -

Good luck! All we were offered was a bigger package for more money.... I told them we were looking to save money and they reduced the BB and something else and that only saved us £1

all depending on your area... but if you are in one of those areas you can pick up a great deal!
Oh, after posting several complaints on V.M's FaceBook page i have finally got someone to look into my complaint - that's after sending in a written complaint and filling in several online complaint forms! Hopefully that will put an end to V.M using scaremonger tactics when people phone up to leave!:beer:0 -
Hi,
I just called Virgin Media as since I've been with them (18 months) I've only used the broadband so it's a total waste of money. She told me that I don't have to pay line rental to have broadband (which I didn't know before) but that I get an £11 discount because I have 2 services. So currently I'm paying £28.30; £13.90 for line rental and £14.50 for broadband. I've seen that they do a TV package for £7 and she said that I could combine that and the broadband and still get a discount. However if I just have the broadband then I lose the discount and pay £27ish. Bearing in mind that I only really want the broadband does anybody have any experience with getting the cost down? I didn't phone retentions but will tomorrow and I was wondering how far I can bargain them down.
Thanks, Jenna0 -
they discount the more services you take...only taking BB will result in less discount, and in some cases, higher bills than taking multiple services.
Its just the way their business model is setup, I don't think you will get much off the line rental aspect as they seemed to have stopped doing the half price etc.0 -

I think this is high for what she has and she has a HD telly so I rang up for a compatible box for her and to see if I could better her price. I pressed the 'want to change your services' number
Anyway, they offered her XL tv, lower bb 10meg, same xl phone with Tivo or a v+ hd box for £52. But they wanted the £49 installation fee for Tivo, when asked about the v+ box I was told it would be £20 for delivery of it!!
I thought maybe they could check my package and offer similar but they were not interested at all. They told me Tivo isn't free anymore and there must have been a deal when I got it (there wasn't)
I asked for her to be disconnected, I also asked to have my number put on so any calls would be to me, My Nan hasn't been too well and I want to get her the best deal and not to just accept the first one because she doesn't want to lose her services... The lady told me "why would they need your number? if you're disconnecting no-one will call you" ......LOL! She took it anyway.
Worried now that she's right because I didn't ring the "you're thinking of leaving us" What do you think?
Got a call yesterday, they took no notice of me asking them to ring me, luckily I was at my Nan's though.
Spoke to a lovely lady who asked what was wrong and why she was leaving.
Got offered
Lower BB 10 meg but will double for free in July anyway
XL TV
XL Phone
TIVO free
and a new hub? as her internet is very slow..
£50.90 a month but £12 off that price for the 1st 3 months :j
I accepted. My Nan's pleased as am I. All I wanted was a better deal and a compatible box for her TV, without paying for delivery/installation/activation.0
