Just wondering if anyone who is on a broadband only package has managed to get a deal through retentions?
I'm on the 'M' £21/month and I'm not aware of any looming price increases yet, but am I likely to get a better deal.
I'm reluctant to call their bluff as I've no intention of leaving - no phone line and no plans to get one.0 -
Retentions offered me M @ £19 OR L @ £21 earlier this week, irc0

I got offered £14/month for large BB only if I sign up for a new 12 month contract. This will go up to £15.50 on 1/Apr/2012.
Much cheaper than the £22.50 I would otherwise be paying!!0 -
after a few months of hassle i was contacted ONLINE, given a £90 refund and offered a deal that we refused, after emailing back with the offer that we wanted... we were given it
the guy was very helpfull and even though it's not the £87.64ish VIP 50 it's the same as when the prices do go up plus we get 100 meg in a few months so can't be bad.
With regards to all the people who are being told by V.M odd stuff regarding SKY and naughty tactics to try and get you to stay - just put a complaint in and ensure it gets followed up. If you don't then it will carry on, the people on the end of the line care more about their commissions than you and will give you any spiel in order to get you to stay which they are not allowed to do. The 2 naughty people i spoke to are being investigated and with the severity of the matters it may get V.M to look into the overall nature of what the V.M agents say over the phone...
Good Luck all! :beer::beer:0 -
We dont have a phone plugged in to the wall lol so maybe we wont get any calls. OH has a mobile with them though so maybe they will call that. It's stupid that you cant change it online.
Do they ever send e-mails from retentions?
An update
Dug out a phone and plugged it in. I have no dialing tone so have had to book an engineering visit for Tuesday :rotfl:0 -
just in case - If I phone to cancel & they don't phone me back with a better deal, can I just cancel my cancellation before 28 days are up - just say I've changed my mind or something and want to continue subscribing?0

looks like I've had a few similar experiences with VM retentions staff, I've cancelled several times in the past 2 month's each time I was given some bull about how much broadband I have actually used, I strongly objected to the figures given and told them so, I was also told how bad Sky was and surprise, surprise how good VM are
on my last call from VM retentions the guy started the same bulls@@t, I Immediately cut him short, telling him I don't want all this waffle about how much broadband I have used and how good VM are and how poor sky are
he then foolishly gave himself away by telling me on a certain date I had used ?? worth of broadband, however the date given (a Thursday) would be the one night in the week where I would use less broadband due to personal commitments elsewhere
in the end the VM operator gave me a free month's credit to mull over the latest offer
I've now downloaded a program to measure how much broadband I actually use, so roll on next time VM try and tell me how much I have & how much I haven't really used0 -
To cancel contract due to price increases we give our notice 30 days before prices change or immediately?0

Musing outloud to myself, but I've got phone line and bb with vm for £24.85. I'm thinking of switching to talktalk essentials for £12.75 a month, with £25 bt connection fee, but £48 quidco cashback, lower bb speeds and more hassle, but would be worth it to save £12 a month.
Would they offer me much of a reduction to stay with them I wonder, I wouldn't need them to match it, even to reduce by £5 might be worth the extra speed, I just need to get my costs down a bit.
Any coments?0
